JOB TITLE: Product Design Lead
DEPARTMENT: Product

ROLE SUMMARY:
As the Product Design Lead, your position is one of significant impact, responsibility, and collaboration as it relates to establishing a creative vision for our suite of member-facing communications for our product. You will work across two cycles: product development and client implementation. In Product Development, you will partner closely with the Product and Engineering Teams to ensure visual and experiential consistency of all delivered product updates and to promote a singular product-oriented vision. Your insight and creativity should encourage our users to continually take charge of their health with the help of our application. In Client Implementation cycles you will partner closely with the Client Services and Product Teams to ensure our product standards are implemented into white-label solutions.

You must have strong problem-solving skills and be self-directed in your work. As the Design Lead, you will act as a champion for the end user experience while balancing the requirements of success for Healthmine and our health plan Clients.
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
 
  • Design Strategy: Develop design patterns, components, systems, and templates in an omni-channel (web, mobile, email, print) lifecycle-focused framework that supports a library of product and solution modules. 
  • Design Scalability: Develop design systems and solutions that are highly repeatable, scalable, and efficient in producing white-label versions across client implementations. 
  • Design Governance: Govern the use of standard components and templates that are in support of margin and growth goals. Consult on new needs and use cases and determine how to modify or expand design standards and offerings. Document, train, and support the broader organization in understanding design parameters. 
  • Design Effectiveness: Establish a test and learn approach to validate hypothesis and optimize design performance and response rates. Develop designs that are based on research, insights, user feedback, and other design-thinking methods that help remove bias and assumptions and uncover what is driving performance across channels, user types, formats, imagery selection, and many other variables. Understand and leverage the constraints and best practices of each communications channel to optimize performance. 
  • Design Execution: Support existing clients and new clients in standing up white-label versions of Healthmine’s products and services in an implementation cycle. Collaborate with other leaders and teams to ensure an efficient process and design operations. Create designs across print and digital channels. Primarily campaigns with email and direct mail, but also may include social media, web design and more. 
  • Design Team: Lead a team of omni-channel designers: UX, UI, Front-end Developer, Print Designer, Email Designer, Print Operations and more. Grow a newly formed team, normalize the teams’ workflows, and mentor team members that have a diverse set of design skills.
 
WHAT YOU NEED:
  • Bachelor’s degree (BFA/BA/BSA) in Graphic Design or similar field 
  • 5+ years in relevant agency or in-house design 
  • 3+ years direct leadership of design teams 
  • Portfolio of work that demonstrates understanding of best practices across omni-channel systems 
  • Proven proficiency in design tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), email builders (ex: Stripo, MailChimp), Figma, and other common tools to create original digital and print design 
  • A pulse on design trends, marketing best practices, industry news, and competitive landscape to continuously evolve and best position our brand and product 
  • Proven experience developing assets across multiple channels including email and print production 
  • Strong eye for creative design and creating results from inception to production 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to changes in business priorities 
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills 
  • Skilled at executing independently and collaboratively with team within a remote environment 
  • Driven to learn, grow skillset, and implement feedback 
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus
