Health insurance is complicated, expensive, and really important - so it tends to create fear for most people; our goal is to reduce that fear as much as possible. 

We specifically work with small business owners who have the enormous task of purchasing the right type of insurance for their employees and their families. With more than 20,000 customers and several major partnerships including Intuit and Square, we're growing quickly and disrupting this convoluted and confusing industry by making it more transparent and fully accessible to everyone. We got our start in the Y-Combinator incubator, and have been funded by top-tier investors at Polaris Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, New York Life Ventures and AltaIR Capital. 

Job Summary:

You will be instrumental in the design process from start to finish, and help improve our existing designs. You will be an integral part of our team in problem solving pain points, taking feedback from internal and external sources, and provide meaningful mock-ups for prototypes and wireframes.

What you'll do:

• Plan and implement new functional designs 
• Optimize existing user interface designs
• Create a consistent, intuitive user experience across multiple platforms and brands
• Implement a user-centered approach in developing interfaces, layouts, use cases and wireframes
• Conduct user research, organize and analyze found data
• Consult with the Product Manager and development team to review design interaction and provide reviews and collaborative feedback

• 5-8 years of experience 
• Portfolio with a history of impactful projects that showcase your design process
• Skilled in interaction and visual design and able to autonomously and continually improve the quality of our products
• Proficient user of design programs
• Strong communication skills with an ability to articulate design decisions
• Strong visual sense and interest in trends in visual design and usability
• Ability to take a conceptual idea to prototype to show proof of concept
• Strong creative, analytical, and process-oriented skills, as well as verbal and written skills
• Start-up experience is ideal, but not a deal breaker

Compensation:
The base salary range for this position is $115,000 to $130,000. 

We have a market-based compensation structure. The salary for this position may vary based on a candidate's experience, industry expertise, technical skills, and location. The range provided is just one component of total compensation including, but not limited to bonus eligibility based upon the achievement of performance objectives and company stock options.
