Product Developer

Tecovas is the first direct-to-consumer western brand, founded with the simple goal of making the world’s best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike. 

Tecovas is looking for a Product Developer to manage the Development of Footwear. Reporting directly to the Director of Product Development and Commercialization, you will work closely with PLM and Design, to meet Milestones, Test Materials, and Confirm Fit. Ultimately, handing Seasonal Confirmation Samples over to Supply Chain for Production. 

This position is a hybrid role with the candidate strongly encouraged to work from our HQ office in Austin, TX with the ability to work remotely on other days. 

What you’ll do:

• Develop footwear, working from the product briefs and designs
• Create Bill of Materials and Cost Breakdown Sheets
• Troubleshoot and find solutions to achieve desired product construction, functionality and targeted FOBs
• Track seasonal developments using seasonal line lists and check in samples at the Austin office
• Manage fit and wear for new projects 
• Testing of materials, working closely with our QA team
• Travel required to Mexico and other international locations on a regular cadence to collaborate with factories, agents, etc (6-8 times/year)
• Complete ad hoc projects and tasks

Experience we’re looking for:

• 3 - 5+ years of experience in footwear development, Bachelor’s Degree in 
• In depth knowledge of footwear constructions
• In depth knowledge of materials 
• Knowledge of fit and the fitting process (our fit standards will be provided)
• Familiarity with lasts and last making
• Bonus points for Developing Products in Asia

Tecovas was born out of a love for cowboy boots, their time-honored craftsmanship, rich materials that last, and traditional styling that always looks good.
