TE Connectivity in Winston-Salem, NC is looking for a Product to optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, operation teams, development engineers or other employees. Maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. Initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. Act as a key expert in the products. Develop and execute relevant product validation test plans. Consult with customers, the engineering team and central test lab to develop and execute product validation test plans. Apply understanding of the product application and the ability to make design changes to enable the requirement. Work with the manufacturing, quality and product management functions within TE Connectivity to design and develop the new product to the required specifications and perform validation testing that meets the customer's expectations and is per automotive industry standards. Provide technical support, root cause/failure analyses and problem-solving assistance on manufacturing or quality issues related to product design intent ,function and application. Apply Automotive inter-connection industry standards/systems, design practices, materials, and manufacturing processes. Work with CAD application PTC Creo /ProE for generation of 2D drawings (with GD&T standards) and 3D solid models. Use engineering tools such as Tolerance stack up analysis, DFMEA, 8D, 5 WHY, fishbone diagram. Collaborate closely with production plant personnel. Organize and prioritize issues and make intelligent, timely decisions independently or in coordination with other cross-functional teams. Develop new product designs. Adapt and reconfigure existing product as product family extensions for use in new applications. Work as part of a cross-functional team and in accordance with the corporate product development process. Provide product engineering support. Ensure smooth launch of new products. Be responsible for efficient manufacturing transition into the production plants. Support engineering activities. Provide engineering expertise related to tool transfers, manufacturing capacity implementation or localization of manufacturing footprint for product lines. Be responsible for maintaining TE's competitive advantage in the market. Identify design and business opportunities. Actively contribute to devise plans for execution of cost saving ideas and continuous improvement cycles. Provide design or manufacturing process advantage.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent), plus 5 years of related work experience in the Automotive industry, in the job offered, or in a related occupation.

Special Requirements: Requires 5 years of experience with the following:

  • Working with CAD application PTC Creo/ProE for generation of 2D drawings (with GD&T standards) and 3D solid models.
  • Use of engineering tools such as Tolerance stack up analysis, DFMEA, 8D, 5 WHY, fishbone diagram.
  • Industry standards/specifications for automotive components validation testing (USCAR, DIN/IEC etc.).
  • Electrical connector design, wiring harness design and layout.
  • Electrical circuit schematic diagrams and electrical systems packaging.
