Job Description

PROCEPT BioRobotics is a surgical robotics company enabling better patient care by developing transformative solutions in urology. With an initial focus on BPH, the company’s AquaBeam® Robotic System delivering Aquablation therapy, is the first FDA-cleared, automated surgical robot for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Aquablation therapy combines real-time, multi-dimensional imaging, automated robotics and heat-free waterjet ablation for targeted, controlled, and immediate removal of prostate tissue. Aquablation therapy offers predictable and reproducible outcomes, independent of prostate anatomy, prostate size or surgeon experience. 


SUMMARY


The successful candidate is a passionate and detail-oriented individual who will play a role in addressing unmet needs among Aquablation therapy physicians. The candidate will be responsible for delving deep into procedural challenges, championing the development of innovative solutions, and driving early-stage development progress.


This role requires the ability to navigate ambiguity within new charters for the PROCEPT business. The candidate will be tasked with defining the market opportunity, setting clear objectives and milestones to track progress, and gathering insights from diverse stakeholders. The candidate should feel comfortable synthesizing complex information and developing compelling proposals to secure alignment on new product initiatives.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be required as assigned)

  • Develop a deep understanding of an unmet clinical need and take ownership over driving solution concept development. 
  • Collaborate with surgeons and internal subject matter experts to source and synthesize information on critical unmet clinical needs.
  • Observe live procedures in the operating room and take note of design and workflow improvements. 
  • Conduct research on existing solutions, competitor landscape, and relevant technologies.
  • Support the execution of market research with external vendors. Interpret and incorporate findings. 
  • Articulate customer needs and insights to product development teams and drive design iteration. 
  • Outline and define methods for evaluating and testing the effectiveness and feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Lead the process of gathering feedback from clinicians and internal stakeholders to inform go/no-go decisions on solution development.
  • Design testing objectives and support specimen labs for prototype testing. Interpret and incorporate findings. 
  • Create a compelling business plan outlining the market opportunity, potential product features, and development roadmap.
  • Maintain trained status for, and comply with, all relevant aspects of the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality Management System to ensure product and support regulatory compliance.
  • Understand and adhere to the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality & EHS policies.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Certifications)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product management, marketing, clinical development, engineering. 
  • BA/BS required in biomedical engineering or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in the medical device, healthcare, or life science industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and with clinicians. 
  • Enthusiasm to work within an undefined space and ability to create clear objectives and milestones.
  • Professional work ethic, high capacity, and ability to operate independently.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with an ability to adapt to change.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $120,000-$166,000 a year.


PROCEPT BioRobotics is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we aim to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. While our ranges are posted, the exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the successful candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, location or comparison to other employees already in similar roles. In addition to base salary, our positions are eligible for variable compensation through one of our incentive plans as well as equity compensation based on role and level. PROCEPT also offers a comprehensive suite of benefits including, but not limited to, health insurance plans, ESPP, 401k retirement savings plan with a company match, and paid time off programs. All compensation and benefits programs are subject to the discretion of the company.
