Product Quality Manager

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Product Quality Assurance Program at Hydrite’s Milwaukee facilities in a manner which reduces product quality risks through the continuous improvement of the facility’s processes and procedures in a cost effective manner.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Supervise QC personnel, including but not limited to, training, scheduling, and coaching employees; communicate job expectations including, appraising job contributions, and adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Manage the Product Quality Assurance function of the Milwaukee facility in accordance with 21 CFR 117, 210 & 211 as required to maintain product quality and FDA compliance.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance FDA Compliance Maintenance Plan.
  • Provide product quality review for new and existing FDA and EPA regulated products, and raw materials at the Milwaukee facility.
  • Perform job responsibilities as outlined in the Personal Care Products & Pharmaceuticals (PCP&P) Business Plan, SOP, including validations associated with the manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.
  • Write and develop Equipment/Facility/Utility and Instrument Qualification protocols.
  • Manage compliance to the Quality Agreements in place with API and Cosmetic customers.
  • Manage facility GMP and HACCP programs per FDA guidance.
  • Provide oversight of analytical methods, method validation, instrumentation, and data management to ensure Hydrite customers receive products within specifications.
  • Manage the Environmental Monitoring Program.
  • Oversee the Microbiological Sampling and Testing Policy in accordance with BAM, AOAC and USP methods, as applicable.
  • Oversee non-conforming product and OOS investigations related to FDA and EPA regulated products manufactured at Hydrite’s Milwaukee location.
  • Oversee the implementation of all corrective actions/preventative actions determined as part of any OOS, deviation, or NCP investigation for regulated products manufactured at Milwaukee.
  • Manage all quality related complaints for regulated products manufactured at Milwaukee.
  • Implement training modules for critical tasks in operations and oversee the training program for manufacturing of Personal Care, Pharmaceutical, and Food Grade products.
  • Act as the Hydrite contact for all personal care & pharmaceutical customer related audits, surveys, and complaints.
  • Oversee the implementation of an ongoing quality assurance plan that measures the quality metrics of manufactured, regulated products.
  • Guide employee performance and development through the use of daily communication and annual performance evaluations.
  • Uphold Hydrite’s Standard of Excellence through a continuous commitment to maintain quality facilities and provide quality products and services to internal and external customers
  • Perform all duties outlined in relevant SOPs and all other duties to be assigned.
  • All staff members are responsible for reporting food safety problems to their supervisor or the SQF Practitioner upon observation of a known or potential issue.
  • Participate in RCRA, regulatory, health & safety and process training activities as required.  Review changes/additions with your supervisor.  Must be RCRA compliant.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • This position reports to Director of Quality, and the primary work location is located in Milwaukee.
  • Manage and supervise QA and QC personnel at Milwaukee.
  • Maintain internal working relationships with company management personnel, and provide technical and quality support to Operations, QC, Purchasing, Product Information, TS&D, Sales, and external working relationships with customers and vendors, as needed.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, microbiology or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Quality Program management at a Food Grade, Cosmetic or Pharmaceutical manufacturing company.
  • Must be self-motivated and initiate continuous improvement.
  • Must possess strong supervisory and communication skills.
  • Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
