Production Line Packaging Operator

Ultimate Staffing is seeking aProduction Line Packaging Operatorto join a client in Hayward. This is a long term temporary role. The Operators will work a schedule that is 4 days per week, 10 hours per day. Hours are Monday - Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30 pm. The Packaging Operators are responsible for operating packaging machinery that performs various functions including filling, labeling, marking, wrapping, and packing on a bottling line. Ensure equipment runs efficiently and safely while maintaining product quality standards. Job Duties: • Start and monitor packaging machines to ensure proper operation and identify any malfunctions. • Stop machines as needed and report issues to the Line Leader or Supervisor. • Perform basic adjustments and minor repairs (e.g., clearing jams, replacing worn parts, setting guides). • Inspect packaged products for compliance with quality and packaging specifications. • Load product or bottles onto conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices; unload finished goods. • Replenish packaging materials such as boxes, cartons, labels, ink, caps, and wrapping materials. • Mount or load packaging materials into machines as required. • Set up and operate related machinery, including bottle fillers, cappers, cotton inserters, labelers, metal detectors, unscramblers, and case labelers. • Accurately record production data, such as units packaged, size, weight, and product type. Complete all required documentation (e.g., batch cards, logs). • Follow sanitation standard operating procedures (SOPs). • Comply with all safety and lockout/tagout procedures. • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by supervisors. • Provide support to other departments as needed. Requirements: • High school diploma or GED required. • 1-3 months of related experience and/or training preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. • Ability to read and understand safety rules, machine instructions, and procedure manuals. • Capable of writing routine reports and communicating clearly with team members and supervisors. • Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. • Able to apply common sense to carry out simple instructions and handle routine situations. • Stand for extended periods. • Reach with hands and arms; talk and hear clearly. • Occasionally walk, use hands to handle objects/tools, climb stairs, kneel, crouch, or balance. • Lift up to 25 lbs. • Possess adequate visual capabilities, including color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Environment: • Regular exposure to moving machinery and airborne particles. • Moderate to loud noise levels; hearing protection required. • PPE including smocks, gloves, hair/beard nets, and earplugs must be worn according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). • No jewelry, false eyelashes, or artificial nails allowed on the production floor.
