The Production Pharmacist / Sterile Preparation Pharmacist at Landmark Infusion Pharmacy is responsible for the overall management of clean room operations, ensuring adherence to USP <797>, USP <800>, The Joint Commission standards, and state and federal laws.This role is open to part-time or full-time positions but Saturday availability is REQUIRED.This role includes overseeing sterile compounding technicians, verifying medication orders, conducting final checks on preparations, and managing Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) setups. The pharmacist ensures timely medication dispensation through effective interdepartmental coordination and supports continuous operational improvements while driving compliance and safety.This position requires the pharmacist to be able to work independently. Candidates must have infusion experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clean Room Oversight (30%)
• Lead sterile compounding operations, directly supervising technicians and enforcing compliance with USP <797> and <800>, The Joint Commission, and OSHA standards.
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, sterility, and environmental control within the clean room, addressing any issues promptly.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance (25%)
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including Texas Board of Pharmacy, The Joint Commission, and FDA requirements.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections, address deficiencies, and implement corrective actions to maintain continuous compliance.
• Prepare for and lead pharmacy readiness for external regulatory audits and inspections.
Order Verification & Medication Safety (20%)
• Review and verify compounded medication orders, ensuring accuracy in ingredients, dosages, and calculations.
• Perform final checks on compounded sterile preparations, verifying safety, sterility, and alignment with prescription requirements.
Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Management (10%)
• Oversee the setup and operation of TPN machines, ensuring the accuracy of measurements, infusion rates, and patient-specific formulations.
• Validate all additives used in TPN preparation prior to injection to ensure compliance with compounding guidelines and patient safety.
Interdepartmental Coordination & Communication (5%)
• Collaborate with nursing, clinical, delivery, and administrative departments to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of medications.
• Maintain effective communication across departments to ensure smooth workflows and alignment with pharmacy operations.
Staff Training & Development (5%)
• Develop and deliver training programs for sterile compounding technicians, focusing on regulatory compliance, aseptic techniques, and best practices.
• Mentor and coach staff, ensuring continuous development and proficiency in compounding procedures.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide corrective training when necessary.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation (3%)
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in sterile compounding operations.
• Stay current with industry developments and integrate new technologies or techniques into clean room practices where applicable.
Documentation & Recordkeeping (2%)
• Ensure meticulous documentation of all sterile compounding activities, clean room maintenance, and environmental monitoring.
• Maintain compliance with Texas Board of Pharmacy and federal documentation standards, and prepare performance reports for management.
Other Duties as Assigned
• Perform additional tasks as required by the Pharmacy Manager to support the overall pharmacy operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited institution.
• Licensure: Active pharmacist license in the state of Texas, in good standing.
• Availability:Part-Time or Full-Time. Saturdays REQUIRED.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Proficiency in sterile compounding techniques and environmental control.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, including USP <797>, <800>, The Joint Commission, Texas Board of Pharmacy, FDA, and OSHA.
• Ability to utilize pharmacy management systems and other relevant healthcare technology.
