Working in Application Support means you'll use both creative and critical thinking skills to maintain application systems that are crucial to the daily operations of the firm. You'll work collaboratively in teams on a wide range of projects based on your primary area of focus: design or programming. While learning to fix application and data issues as they arise, you'll also gain exposure to software development, testing, deployment, maintenance and improvement, in addition to production lifecycle methodologies and risk guidelines. Finally, you'll have the opportunity to develop professionally -and to grow your career in any direction you choose.
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience doing application development or production support (L2) or infrastructure engineer
  • Working knowledge in one or more general purpose programming languages, plus an interest in learning other coding languages and skills as needed
  • Working knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
  • Hands on experience working in Linux environment, understanding of one or more modern programming languages (preferably Python) and /or Linux shell scripting
  • Supporting and improving the Digital Platform Services applications. Support of these applications will require regular engagement with business client services, infrastructure and other stakeholders.
  • Act as escalation for all day-to-day issues impacting the plant- including being first point of contact for senior Technology and Business leaders within region
  • Work closely with the Markets Execution development team to understand the strategic growth plans for the platform and evolve the support organization to meet these needs.
  • Create, drive and manage KPIs and real-time monitoring dashboards to ensure system operability and performance
  • Proactively identify areas for stability improvement in the software/hardware stack as well as operational processes
  • Manage the on-boarding of new businesses, clients and applications to the platform
  • Ensure resiliency of the platform through managed DR/SR/HA events.
  • Incident management - Production incident management, root cause analysis (RCA) and related follow ups to ensure closure of the issue.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Familiarity with AWS Cloud Services
  • Basic understanding of Web-based, Java, or e-commerce applications
  • Management of internet facing multi-tier 24/7 critical web infrastructure
  • Basic u nderstanding of scalable web based architecture
  • Working knowledge of Load Balancing
  • Experience using logging and monitoring tools (such as ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana, Splunk, Geneos or Dynatrace) to conduct performance or capacity analysis.
  • Working knowledge of basic TCP/IP networking concepts
