Primary Purpose:

Ensures regulatory standards are maintained as they pertain to proficiency testing. Actively monitors regulations for change. Maintains and manages all proficiency testing related documents and the proficiency testing organizer, in MasterControl. Coordinate the external proficiency testing orders, renewal and payment delegation. Provide a standardized means for handling, accessioning, and tracking proficiency surveys for the Central Facility, ARUP University Hospital and the associated clinics. Develops and distributes reports pertaining to proficiency testing and participates in document writing and revision.

Essential Functions:

Ensures regulatory standards are maintained in area of responsibility as it pertains to proficiency testing.

Actively monitors regulations for change that may affect the areas of proficiency testing.

Maintains strict confidence and security of all proficiency testing results and cytopathology testing scores.

Initiates and responds to non-conformances.

Maintains and manages the proficiency testing organizer in MasterControl.

Evaluates proficiency results for potential problem reports and distributes evaluations to appropriate departments for follow up.

Provides assistance in problem reports and corrective actions as requested.

Maintains and manages the review, routing, release and storage of all proficiency testing documents in MasterControl.

Ensures that all proficiency testing documents are named and formatted appropriately.

Maintains and manages department associated policies, processes, standard operation procedures, validations, training plan and training modules.

Functions as a site administrator for all ARUP CAP IDs and manages user's online access/permissions.

Coordinates the annual College of American Pathologists (CAP) proficiency testing ordering meetings, submission of order and delegation of payment to the respective departments.

Coordinates alternative assessment survey renewal and/or initial enrollment, submission of order and delegation of payment to the respective departments.

Functions as a liaison between the CAP and departmental staff in regards to proficiency testing surveys.

Coordinates the cancellation or addition of proficiency testing surveys throughout the year.

Maintains and manages Proficiency Testing Support Specialist's (PTSS) fusion site, to include the proficiency testing electronic tracking SharePoint form.

Manages and maintains departmental external proficiency spreadsheet for the Central Facility, ARUP University Hospital and the associated clinics.

Accessions all external proficiency testing specimens for the Central Facility, ARUP University Hospital and the associated clinics.

Manages and maintains delegated departmental internal proficiency spreadsheet for the Central Facility.

Accessions all delegated internal proficiency testing specimens.

Facilitates the electronic delivery and receipt of proficiency testing documents to ARUP Central Facility, ARUP University Hospital and the associated clinics.

Distributes proficiency testing surveys to the Central Facility technical sections.

Maintains knowledge of current requirements of federal, state, and local governments and other accrediting and licensure bodies, specifically in regards to ARUP proficiency testing requirements.

Assist with MasterControl proficiency documentation during inspections.

Develops and distributes proficiency reports annually, semi-annually, quarterly, monthly or as requested.

Develops and provides training as related to proficiency testing processes, as required and requested.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements:

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicate with others.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.

ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.

Color Vision: Perception of and ability to distinguish colors
