PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The Hollywood Hub is a community-driven program, that aims to bring dignity and hope through increased access to personal hygiene services for Hollywood residents experiencing homelessness. The Hollywood Hub is a safe, non-judgmental environment with no barriers to access to showers, laundromat services, meals, and linkage to community-based resources via onsite intensive case management services. Overall, the program focuses on increasing the physical, mental health, and overall wellness of individuals experiencing homelessness. The Hollywood Hub offers hygiene services, supportive services, and community engagement five days a week. Homeless Health Care Los Angeles is the lead agency and fiscal sponsor for the program and works in collaboration with the Hollywood Adventist Church.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Hollywood Hub Program Associate works under the direction of the Hollywood Hub Program Lead and supports with the daily operations of the facility. The Hollywood Hub Program Associate’s focus is maintaining the hygiene, meal, and clothing boutiques’ components of the program, which include: shower, restroom, and laundry facilities, in addition to meal program and clothing boutique. This position is responsible for ensuring that all restrooms and showers are cleaned, sanitized, and restocked regularly, as well as handling laundry duties, meal program, clothing boutique duties, and support community partnership logistics, as needed. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and take pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for all guests. This role requires working outdoors over 50% of the time. Standing, lifting, bending, loading and unloading supplies required on a daily basis. Additionally, the Hollywood Hub Program Associate works to improve the overall health and well-being of people experiencing homelessness by assisting with coordinating linkages and working with the onsite Case Management Team when appropriate. This is a full-time position consisting of 37.5 hours per week, including holidays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists with tracking and inventorying program and office supplies, as needed.
• Maintains safety policies and procedures to achieve and maintain a safe work area and practices.
• Maintains familiarity with agency and program policies and procedures, as well as all other applicable regulations.
• Keeps a close watch on maintenance/structural issues, repairs needed, or other pressing matters to alert their supervisor in a timely fashion.
• Works collaboratively and respectfully with co-workers and others at the Hollywood Hub (including subcontractor(s), volunteers, partners, etc.) using a democratic, team-based model toward the achievement of daily tasks and the broader mission of the Hollywood Hub.
• Engages relationship building and establishes rapport with people who use drugs, may have a mental/behavioral health condition, and/or are experiencing homelessness in the community.
• Is aware of all onsite partners, resources offered, and monthly schedule for hours they are present onsite, and maintains a heathy professional relationship with each.
• Develops relationships with representatives in other agencies to support community members in attaining services, as needed.
• Participates in community events offered by both HHCLA and its community partners.
• De-escalates situations involving escalated individuals and behaves in a manner appropriate to limiting the risk of situations becoming further escalated.
• Attends all team meetings, staff meetings, in-service trainings, and mandatory Human Resources trainings/certifications.
• Demonstrates competence to effectively apply Harm Reduction and Trauma Informed Philosophy in all interactions with participants.
• Is able to serve a diverse population and communicate effectively in a culturally competent manner.
• Upholds integrity of team-based care through firm commitment to teamwork, emotional intelligence, and open and respectful communication with all team members, subcontractor(s), partners, guests, and other staff.
• Maintains records according to HIPAA and adheres to all client confidentiality requirements and standards.
• Complies and maintains familiarity with HHCLA policies and procedures and other applicable regulations required by funding sources.
• Implement and consistently practice harm reduction, trauma-informed care, housing first philosophy, and integrated care interventions.
• Models and represents HHCLA’s mission, philosophy, approach and core values in all communication, correspondence, community events, coalitions, and advocacy efforts.
• Fill in across all program areas as needed, including: check in process, shower station, restrooms, laundry facilities, meal program, clothing boutique, logistical support for community partnerships, and/or other program-related activities.
• Assists with maintenance, janitorial, and all Hollywood Hub Program Associate duties, as needed.
• Reports to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance.
• Understands, follows, and applies all HR-related personnel protocols.
• Maintain a positive, warm, welcoming environment in cooperation with additional facility partners.
• Meet, greet, and direct guests/clients to appropriate resources available on-site.
• Clean and sanitize all shower areas, restrooms, sinks, mirrors, washers/dryers, meal tables, and surrounding spaces after each use.
• Ensure that all supplies (toilet paper, soap, paper towels, toilet seat covers, bath towels, shampoos/conditioner, body wash, other hygiene supplies, etc.) are stocked and replenished regularly.
• Sweep and mop floors to maintain cleanliness and prevent any buildup of dirt or debris.
• Ensure all fixtures, lighting, and equipment are in working order and report any maintenance issues.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene at all times.
• Work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies.
• Collect, sort, and wash laundry items such as towels, linens, and other laundry-related items.
• Operate washing machines and dryers, following proper laundering instructions to ensure the longevity and cleanliness of items.
• Store guest laundry appropriately for easy access.
• Maintain inventory of laundry supplies and notify the supervisor when supplies need to be reordered.
• Ensure laundry areas are neat, organized, and free from hazards.
• Regularly disinfect high-touch surfaces, including door handles, light switches, and countertops.
• Empty trash cans and replace liners as needed.
• Ensure all cleaning equipment is maintained and in good working condition.
• Answer questions regarding the Hollywood Hub resources, hours, and procedures.
• Develop relationships with representatives in other agencies to support individuals in attaining services
• Able to serve a diverse vulnerable client population and communicate effectively in a culturally competent manner.
• Respond to overdose or other emergency situations, as needed.
• Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, utilizing professional, open and respectful communication.
• Maintains a solution-focused, strengths-based, and client-centered approach with managers, Directors, colleagues, co-workers, partners, and guests of Hollywood Hub.
• Ensure performance management standards are met through ongoing supervision and addressing barriers as they arise.
• Attend and participate in all required contractual, agency, and professional development trainings.
• Must complete Overdose Prevention and other trainings, as required.
• Comply and maintain familiarity with agency and program policies and procedures and other applicable regulations.
• Attend and participate in supervision, staff meetings, trainings, workshops, and special projects to promote professional development.
• Model HHCLA approach, mission, and core values in all communication, correspondence, community events, and advocacy efforts.
• Report to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
REQUIRED
Education and Work Experience:
• Minimum of two years’ experience in related cleaning/janitorial field(s) and/or human services arena; OR lived experience with homelessness, incarceration, sex work and/or substance use.
Knowledge & Skills
• Familiar with the principles of Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Care
• Ability to define problems and use critical thinking skills to identify solutions
• Ability to work independently and with others, including other employees, clients, and members of the public, face-to-face, and electronic missive contexts
• Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, manage time, and perform duties under time constraints
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work demands

• Bilingual in Spanish and English
