Program Coordinator

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Program Coordinator provides leadership along with the oversight and daily supervision of day-to-day operations of the assigned area including supervision of assigned tasks. Program Coordinators are proficient in required tasks and work to ensure that tasks and studies in the assigned area are being performed according to study protocols, IACUC protocols and to the company guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• May be responsible for the daily schedule (micro) to ensure feasibility and adequate technical staffing according to research timelines.
• Reviews and assists in planning Master Schedule (Macro).
• May assist in coordinating resources to provide tentative start date ranges for quotes to BD.
• Ensures team is appropriately qualified and trained in procedures prior to assigning to projects; Works with the Training program to schedule team members for training.
• May provide and/or edit training content for tasks related to program roles.
• Provides supervision of personnel and operations of assigned areas during the preparation, implementation, and completion of tasks. 
• May delegate primary technician and technical responsibilities to appropriate staff pertaining to each study protocol.
• Prepares the assigned area(s) for inspections and site visits.
• Responsible for ensuring effective sanitation of assigned areas and equipment according to SOPs.
• Assists with responsibilities in facility emergency situations.
• Ensures all appropriate door signs and cage cards are current and following room/study changes.
• Responsible for scheduling, assigning and follow up of completion of work for personnel in assigned area including the monitoring of daily study progress and the QC of data.

• May be responsible for providing reports regarding materials, supplies, and study related needs.

• May acquire Designated Trainer role and assist with personnel training including training for technical procedures and competency testing.
• May be responsible for assisting in Manager duties as directed.

• Comprehends procedures and performs tasks according to company policies and SOPs.
• Complies with all regulatory guidelines, occupational health as well as health and safety programs, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

• Performs other duties as required.

PROBLEM SOLVING/DECISION MAKING

• Exercises independent judgment to solve problems, edit and/or create documents, involved in establishing new processes.
• Functions independently with minimal guidance from senior staff.
• Obtains assistance or reports problems to manager or senior personnel.

PLANNING

• Coordinator provides information to improve current procedures or methods, SOPs, study protocols, IACUC’s or other related study documents.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

• May be responsible for personnel supervision/oversight during training sessions.
• May be responsible for management of program support technicians.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• AS in Science (or equivalent degree) preferred
• Certifications preferred: ALAT, LAT, LATG
• >5 years of experience in related laboratory animal science experience including supervisory experience with appropriate technical skills
