The Program Director will oversee commercialization projects specific to the US market that can range from software implementation (GAMP 5), document creation, project management and automation processes within a CAP/CLIA lab environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive, hands-on approach to the role.
The Program Director will focus on the project management of our genetic based personalized report creation, automation projects specific to various programs and oversight of multiple consulting agencies. The Program Director actively collects input from the management on the objectives, scope, and business background of the project at every stage of execution to ensure the activities are optimally aligned with the business’ needs. Additionally, he/she ensures the input of the various stakeholders are properly implemented into the project plan.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:
· Automation projects including but not limited to
o Salesforce implementation for pre-analytical and post-analytical workflow
o Implementation of LIMS system for analytical workflow
o Integration with electronic health record system
o Integration with lab billing solutions
o Dashboarding creation
· Licensing project for New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH)
Role will be fully on-site 5 days a week at our San Diego based laboratory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Project Coordination: Manage and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with company goals.
• Stakeholder Management: Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners to maintain clear communication and ensure project requirements are met.
• Timely Delivery: Ensure that projects are completed within set timelines, budgets, and scope while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks or roadblocks in the project lifecycle and work proactively to address them.
• Reporting and Documentation: Track project progress and provide regular status updates to senior management. Prepare detailed reports and documentation as needed.
• Resource Management: Allocate and manage project resources effectively, ensuring the optimal use of available tools and personnel.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to the optimization of project management processes and practices based on lessons learned.
You have
· Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant area (molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry or other relevant area).
· At least 7 - 10 years of experience in project management within the Life Sciences industry.
· Lean six sigma certification is a plus
· Understanding of molecular diagnostics techniques, technologies, and applications (PCR or microarray technology).
· Understanding of software development and implementation paradigms (eg. to implement a LIMS)
· Understanding of CAP/CLIA laboratory requirements as they relate to high-complexity molecular tests
· Knowledge of the end-to-end process of molecular diagnostics product development
· Experience in working in an international environment/collocated team, experience in working with US and Europe-based teams is preferred
· Familiar with translating state-of-the-art science into products that matter to patients
· A hands-on mentality, flexible and goal-oriented approach to work
· Ability to lead and motivate project teams effectively, manage both internal and external collaborations
· Strong analytical skills (ability to interpret and analyze complex situations) and creative approach to problem solving.
· Experience with or strong understanding of project management tools and methodologies.
· Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, managing priorities and deadlines.
· Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mind-set.
· Familiar with performing tasks according to a very high-quality standard and able to ensure that project results are delivered accordingly
· Intrinsic motivation to make a positive contribution to health care and provide solutions for patients.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Ability to self-manage under pressure and during stressful situations
· Proven ability to be a quick learner, resourceful and respectful in leveraging the subject matter expertise of the other project team members
