Responsibilities

  • Manage external-facing tax projects for large client engagements.
  • Demonstrate ability to collect, analyze and draw conclusions from data.
  • Introduce project management practices into client engagements and develop a defined approach to utilize project plans for the tax practice that can be modified for varying client profiles.
  • Document existing processes and compare to desired future state. Identify areas of process improvement/optimization.
  • Define, scope and drive the overall project plan throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor and manage the project plan to provide a complete picture of project health and progress throughout all phases of the project lifecycle; actively manage critical path. Report project status to leadership and client at defined times.
  • Ensure daily activities undertaken on the project are executed in accordance with the approved project plan and firm-approved standards and practices.
  • Ensure that the project produces the required deliverables on time, within budget, and at the necessary levels of quality outlined in the project plan.
  • Develop, monitor, manage and report on project budget/economics throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with team to make improvements to and streamline billing process.
  • Ensure that all required resources are assigned to the project and clearly tasked with the appropriate tasks, deliverables and project related activities.
  • Take the lead in defining and setting expectations with clients. Demonstrate ability to take initiative and proactively follow-up with and manage project team, clients and partners.
  • Interface with resource management to schedule resources. Manage assigned resources according to the defined scope of the project; lead through influence and collaboration.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the project team, project leadership and client.
  • Manage out-of-scope - occurrence, client communication and fee expectations.
  • Identify and manage key project-related issues and risks in collaboration with the assigned owner(s); devise issues and risks mitigation/resolution plans.
  • Identify, manage and monitor project dependencies and interdependencies.
  • Share best practices and continuously look for ways to improve the project lifecycle process.
  • Create best practices to enable development of project management skills and develop/host trainings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related project or program management experience required. Hands-on experience with process mapping and developing and managing project plans, status reports budgets, RACIs and other common project management tools, artifacts and assets is required.
  • Demonstrated management, analytical, organizational and highly developed Microsoft Suite skills (Excel and PowerPoint) required.
  • Excellent project management skills with proven success leading external client facing projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead others, provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning to stay current regarding applicable strategies, see the "big picture" as well as the details, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of projects.
  • Prior public accounting (tax) background strongly preferred.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior Smartsheet experience strongly preferred.

Additional Information

For California, Colorado, New York and Washington: The compensation range for this role is $110,000 to $130,000 . Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
