Job Description

Public Works, at the direction of CEO, is seeking experienced Project Managers (levels I, II, and/or III) for a period of 2 years stationed at CEO’s office to assist with DOJ compliance.
Candidates are required to have at least 5 years (PMI), 10 years (PMII) or 15 years (PMIII) of progressive experience in managing building projects through planning, design, jurisdictional approvals, construction, and close-out.
Candidates are required to possess the following:

  1. Minimum 5 years (PMI), 10 years (PMII) or 15 years of project management and concurrent field construction experience.
  2. Project Management Certification
  3. Licensed professional or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
  4. Education background in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  5. Experience with County of Los Angeles Building Code and Standards.
  6. Strong leadership, excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  7. Strong analytical skills
  8. Ability to use suite of Microsoft Applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  9. Work experience in project planning and development.
  10. Experience working in an operational facility including maintenance type work.
  11. Ability to independently manage all aspects of a project.
  12. Ability to develop and control project scope.
  13. Ability to develop and maintain project budgets.
  14. Ability to develop and review project schedules.
  15. Skilled in reviewing and coordinating the preparation of construction documents.
  16. Ability to run the day-to-day management aspects of projects in a fast-paced environment.
  17. Ability to effectively facilitate project team and client meetings.
  1. Ability to effectively negotiate and prepare change orders.
  2. Ability to effectively monitor and coordinate construction activities with the various project stakeholders.
  3. Ability to adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges.
  4. Effectively recognize and elevate relevant project issues to superiors.
  5. Ability to set and manage project expectations.
  6. Ability to read architectural plans.
  7. Ability to review plans and specifications for accurateness, conformity to current codes and regulations, and provide feedback, as appropriate.
  8. Ability to present information clearly and concisely to decision-makers.
  9. Ability to develop clear, concise, and grammatically correct written documents/correspondence.
  10. Working on projects with multiple phases and construction contracts.

Experience in the following is desirable:

  1. Knowledge of Public Contracts Code, CEQA, and Detention Operation
  2. Knowledge of California Code of Regulations Title 15 - Minimum Standards for Local Detention Facilities
  3. Knowledge of Board of State and Community Corrections Standards
  4. Los Angeles County Public Works protocols and procedures.

Salary dependent on education and experience. Salary range: $125K-$175K
