Psychiatric Technician โ€“ NMRTU Dahlgren VA Location: Dahlgren, VA

US Got People (USGP) is seeking a qualified Psychiatric Technician to join our team and provide care to military service members, veterans, and their families at the Naval Medical Readiness and Training Unit (NMRTU) Dahlgren. This is a rewarding opportunity to serve those who serve our country, in a supportive and mission-driven environment.

Position Highlights:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, between 7:00 AM โ€“ 6:30 PM
  • Compensation: Competitive pay + health and welfare stipend
  • Work Environment: Federal healthcare facility Qualifications:

Education C Certification:

  • Certificate from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program;

OR

  • Equivalent education and experience that meets the standards of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians;

OR

  • Completed psychiatric technician training as a behavioral science

specialist/technician in the U.S. military, or a civilian course from an accredited school focusing on behavioral health care.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Basic Life Support certification is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Psychiatric Technician post-graduation. Immunization Requirements: (Must be current or willing to obtain prior to start)
  • Hepatitis B (series and titer)

  • Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • TB (Tuberculosis) test
  • Seasonal Influenza vaccine
  • COVID-19 vaccine (if applicable) Key Responsibilities:

You will play a vital role in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients, including:

  • Performing initial assessments: standardized psychological testing, clinical interviews, mental status exams, and substance abuse
  • Identifying mental health and nursing
  • Educating patients and families about treatment and
  • Monitoring and documenting patient
  • Leading or assisting with individual and group therapy
  • Ensuring safety measures to prevent injury or
  • Assisting with daily living activities such as nutrition, hygiene, and
  • Obtaining and recording vital
  • Coordinating care with military, community, and healthcare
  • Explaining mental health services and assisting with
  • Supporting individuals with acute stress and post-traumatic stress
