Job Description

The Quality Analyst under general supervision, will coordinate activities for the Quality department supporting all areas of the plant. This position will perform laboratory tasks following all SOPs and will support plant operations as needed. A successful applicant will be responsible for working safely and efficiently. This role will also work on Continuous Improvement processes including Lean and participate in projects to support the overall Company strategy and Quality department.

Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Perform analytical laboratory testing as needed to support operations and release of finished product.
  • Provide analytical and quality support to operations during projects, trials, and surveys by performing specialized testing.
  • Ensuring non-routine testing is performed in an appropriate manner as needed.
  • Monitor and perform maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment as needed.
  • Identify, investigate, and facilitate the resolution of in-process and product nonconformances.
  • Participate in proficiency programs to maintain laboratory compliance.
  • Manage and maintain records for weekly, monthly, and quarterly laboratory calibrations.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and all company safety regulations.
  • Conduct scheduled microbiological testing in timely manner.
  • Participation in customer and quality system audits, both internal and third party as needed.
  • Improvement of Quality Assurance and Food Safety through continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Physical Requirements
    • Vision: near vision to see objects clearly within 20 inches, sharp focus to adjust vision when doing close work and full spectrum vision to identify and distinguish color.
    • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers.
    • Standing for extended periods of time.
    • Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
    • Occasional pushing, pulling, and lifting objects weighing up to 35 lbs.
    • Ability to move about to collect samples and complete compliance audits.
  • Position type and expected hours of work: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week

    Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science or related Associates field preferred.
  • Experience working in quality control/quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety, HACCP, and GMP preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, and ISO 22001 standards and willingness to obtain lead auditor certification a plus.
  • Equipment preventative maintenance on instruments such as Waters HPLC, GC-MS, Leco, Mettler, and Shimadzu a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills in Sharepoint, Microsoft Office, SAP, and PowerBI.
  • Demonstrated willingness to expand skill level to improve productivity and promote continuous improvement.
