Summary

This position is located in the Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program, Fleet Readiness Department in the Fitness/Sports and Deployed Support Department at MWR NAVAL STATION NORFOLK FITNESS & SPORTS NORFOLK, VA. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Group Exercise Instructor demonstrating and leading safe and effective group exercise classes, applying the fundamental principles of exercise science, under the supervision of the assigned manager.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION: Must posses and maintain at all times a Certified Group Exercise Instructor/Trainer Certificate from one of the following organizations: American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM); Cooper Institute; American Council on Exercise (ACE); Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFAA); American Aerobic Association International/International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA); National Dance Exercise Instructor Training Association (NDEITA);International Dance and Exercise (IDEA); Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). Must possess and maintain at all times a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor certificate and First Aid Instructor certificate.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Position has been designated Non-Critical sensitive. As a position of trust and ITII position, employment is conditional on the successful completions of an Access National Agency Check (ANACI).
  • Must possess and maintain a current driver's license to drive a government vehicle in the performance of duties may be required.
  • Position is subject to an irregular tour of duty which may include weekends and holidays.

This position does not have a positive education requirement.

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.

Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee's eligibility to work in the United States.
