Position Summary:
We are looking for a talented & driven Downstream Development Research Associate II to play a key role in the development and execution of downstream processes for Synthekine’s various drug candidates. Expression systems may be either microbial or mammalian. The successful candidate will show an aptitude and affinity for developing and driving forward highly robust protein purification processes, from research candidates through large scale manufacturing. Level will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assist scientists with establishing and developing processes from research to clinical and large-scale manufacturing for all aspects of the protein purification process. Tasks include: buffer preparation, autoclaving, buffer formulation studies, resin screening, depth filtration studies, tangential flow filtration studies, and any other study types that may be required to develop and characterize a robust protein purification process.
- Support scientists by proper documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks, contributing to reports and presentations
- Assist with ordering consumables, setting up and maintaining a functional working lab space for protein purification
- Maintaining laboratory equipment such as AKTA chromatography systems, TFF systems, buffer preparation areas, etc.
- Analyze data and prepare presentations, data graphs, technical reports, and regulatory documents to support process related decision making and actively engage in scientific and technical discussions to support the decision-making process
- Evaluate new equipment capabilities and technologies to improve upon existing processes and increase internal capabilities. Install and maintain equipment as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, or Life Science discipline with 2-4 years related experience
- Experience in biotherapeutics processing. Preference will be given to applicants with protein purification experience
- “Can do” startup mentality, with a desire to think outside of the box and do what is necessary to reach program, departmental, and corporate goals
- Ability to think critically, analytically and to have strong troubleshooting and problem- solving skills based on deductive reasoning.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross functional teams
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong ability to manage ambiguity and thrive in startup environments to build and establish new facilities, teams, and processes
The anticipated salary range for the position of Research Associate II based in our Menlo Park, CA office is $86,000-104,750. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Â Synthekine is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states. We comply with all state federal and local laws regarding pay practices.
