Job Description
Global Science &Technology, Inc. (GST), a fast-growing high technology firm, is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Science Team Technical Lead to support the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR). This position is located in College Park, MD but has the flexibility to work from home.
Position Summary:
The candidate will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Science Team Technical Lead for TA3 as part of the GST Team supporting NOAA's Office of Atmospheric Science and Technology Applications (ASTA 2.0) in providing management support related to the communication/coordination between STAR Science Management Teams and Subject matter experts.
Primary Duties:• Support satellite program requirements and monitor activities to ensure that deliveries to the various satellite programs are on time and within budget. • Provide scientific support services for the full range of related requirements for observing system activities, to include satellite missions, and managing the space and Earth environmental data that results from those missions. • Maintain and update science teams' websites and support overarching monitoring and quality assurance activities. • Provide management support for the communication/coordination between STAR science and management teams and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from industry, academia, and government.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
Advanced degree (M.S. or above) in Atmospheric Science or related degree (e.g., Meteorology, Environmental Science, or Physical Science degree). Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.• Project management or team leadership experience• Demonstrated experience in cost, schedule, and quality tracking• Experience with the NOAA Center for Satellite Research and Applications (STAR) strongly preferred.
Technical/scientific understanding and experience with the following areas desired: Remote Sensing, Engineering, Geology, Meteorology & Atmospheric Sciences, Imaging Science & Photographic Technology; development of hyperspectral sounding retrieval algorithms and validations; experience implementing enterprise environmental data records (EDR) algorithms; experience using direct broadcast networks to provide calibrated radiances and geophysical data products; technical participation experience in development and calibration of data from GOES satellites; experience with evaluating Level-1B and Level-2 AIRS Data Products.
