Position Summary:The Retail Greeter plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and secure shopping environment. This position emphasizes theft prevention and deterrence by increasing customer awareness, engaging with shoppers, and maintaining a visible presence at the store entrance. The Retail Greeter is a crucial part of the store operations team to ensure compliance with customer service and external theft deterrent strategies. This role strictly adheres to company policies, which prohibit pursuit, accusation, or requests to search individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Customer Engagement and Deterrence:
• Warmly greet all customers as they enter and exit the store, creating a welcoming environment.
• Provide outstanding customer service by offering directions, answering questions, or assisting with store navigation.
• Maintain a visible presence at the front of the store to deter potential theft.
• Physical Security Testing and Compliance:
• Conduct routine testing of the Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) system to ensure proper functionality.
• Verify that merchandise is properly secured with ink tags or other theft deterrent devices as per company guidelines.
• Assist with regular audits of high-theft items to ensure compliance with security protocols.
• Communication and Reporting:
• Notify management of any incidents or concerns observed during shifts.
• Document all incidents in the case management reporting system for loss prevention visibility
• Provide regular updates on incidents, observations, etc. to loss prevention team
• Review CCTV, download and attach all video from incidents
• Research and document inventory impact from known theft events
• Record all inventory losses via JIRA tickets to inventory control so adjustments can be applied
• Maintain clear and professional communication with customers and team members.
• Policy Adherence:
• Refrain from pursuing, accusing, or requesting to search individuals suspected of theft, in compliance with company policy.
• Serve as a role model for ethical and professional conduct.
Qualifications:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage customers in a professional and friendly manner.
• Ability to remain vigilant, attentive, and proactive in identifying potential security concerns.
• Comfortable working on foot and maintaining a high level of visibility.
• Prior experience in customer service, retail, or security is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
• Position requires standing for extended periods.
• May include flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays, based on store needs.
Note:This role focuses on theft deterrence through presence and engagement, not enforcement. Retail Greeters are an essential part of the customer service and Loss Prevention strategy, fostering a safe and enjoyable shopping experience for all.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
