Job Description

Security is Responsible for: • Contact Police/Fire/Rescue Squad (via 911) • Contact Nursing Supervisor/Charge Nurse (via push to talk) • Calling Health Services (M-F, 8am to 4:30pm) • Ensuring Fire Rescue Squad is escorted to the scene of the emergency. (This includes driving over grass if necessary to reach accessible door to unit). • Notify unit nurse. • Security will remain on location until client has been removed to hospital or all is clear. • Complete all required documentation (incident report/log entries) after Medical Personnel has taken over. Pay Rate -$17.07/hr Duties • Review a logbook at the beginning of each shift for prior activities, updates and or pertinent information. • Direct and assist authorized visitors, family members, bus drivers, etc…to various locations as required. • Maintain daily logbook on all incidents, sick calls, etc, and recording on required reports and patrol log and/or telephone appropriate supervisors. Complete designated forms accurately and concisely. • Dispense/retrieve keys, mobile phones and or gas cards as needed to authorized Merakey Drivers. Document on designated forms and forward to appropriate departments. • Monitor Siemens Alarm System. Call monitoring Company when the alarm system is bypassed and for testing. Alert building of malfunction and place on fire watch. • Escort emergency vehicles -Police-Fire- or ambulance to locations on grounds and assist as necessary. • Answer phones, relay pertinent information to various departments. Contact the Facility Supervisor of Emergency/Urgent Maintenance issues. If there is no response contact Facility Manager. Document all calls and actions taken in the logbook. • Walk through all buildings periodically to check for safety, mechanical and security-related problems, (8-4, 4-12, and 12a-8a.). All (shifts) will patrol/tour interior and exterior of all Residential and Administrative buildings, and Parking Lot. Guards will rotate on each shift. • Transportation of clients and staff to work, hospitals, medical office and other areas, including vehicle breakdown transportation, requested by management during evenings, weekends, holidays and whenever the transportation department is unavailable. All trips will be logged in the logbook. A vehicle form must be completed for all trips.This would only be done for extreme emergencies and when there are 2 Security Guards are on Duty. • Transportation of clients who are off grounds on trips and become disruptive and unmanageable back to their residence at the Verree Road Campus.This would only be done for an extreme emergency only and there must be 2 Security Guards on Duty. • Search of grounds, buildings highways, area stores and malls for missing clients. Filing Missing Persons report with Police Department in a reasonable time frame. • Security Department will be the Communications Center during emergency or catastrophe; relating information- calling required staff-MAKE SURE ALERT LIST IS CALLEDand necessary agencies. Directing and assisting in evacuation of clients and staff during emergencies. • All fire extinguishers in assigned buildings are checked each month and logged. • Emptied fire extinguishers, and oxygen tanks are collected for refilling, and replaced with full ones. • Building doors, offices supply rooms, etc…unlocked & unchained for various reasons as authorized (6am). Securing building entrance doors and offices when staff has gone for the day in non-residential buildings (5pm). • Securing building entrance doors to Residential buildings (9pm). • Exterior gates will be locked at 6pm and opened at 6am excluding inclement weather—snow/ice , gates will remain opened. • Locks cut off doors and lockers for various reasons as authorized. • Issue/retrieve keys, access identification cards to employees as required. Document on designated forms. • Conduct Fire Drills at various times in buildings each month per DOH, according to schedule. Document in logbook and required forms. Forward a copy to appropriate departments. • Enforcement of parking and driving regulations and directing traffic to various parking areas for major meetings/events and work being done on grounds. Issue tickets/notices/citations to people parking in unauthorized areas. Forward a copy to Facility Manager and Supervisor.
