Classification:Administrative Professional Exemption Status/Test:Exempt Job Grade:2 Department:Emergency Management and School Safety Reports To:Director Job Goal: Oversee security and safety services that provide for the protection and wellbeing of all people, assets, and property. Provide training, support, oversight, and guidance to Region 4 security team. Assist leadership in the development and implementation of safety and emergency management procedures. Qualifications: Education • High School Diploma or equivalent • Associate’s degree in law enforcement or safety, preferred Certification/Licensure • Possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record • Possess and maintain a valid Texas License to Carry • STOP THE BLEED® certification • Standard Response Protocol • Level II — Non-Commissioned Security Guard Certification • Level III — Commissioned Security Guard (Or Armed Security Guard) Certification Experience • Two years of experience as an armed security guard • One year of supervisory experience • Prior law enforcement or military experience, preferred Special Knowledge and Skills • Proven effective leadership skills • Proficient in the use of firearms and other security equipment • Excellent physical condition with the ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods of time • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure and handle stressful situations effectively • Self-motivated with exceptional work ethic • Exemplary attention to detail • Excellent judgment and decision making, including while under pressure • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism Major Responsibilities: • Ensure all shifts are adequately staffed. • Serve as the quartermaster. • Ensure all reports are completed by the end of the shift. • Prevent loss and damage by reporting irregularities and inform violators of policy and procedures. • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons. • Escort or drive a motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection. • Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, and monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points. • Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior. • Control traffic by directing drivers. • Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities. • Interview witnesses and obtain signatures as needed. • Maintain environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls. • Maintain the organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements. • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements. • Provide life-saving measures during a crisis such as CPR, STOP THE BLEED®, AED, and other life-saving techniques. • Lead drills and exercises that promote emergency preparedness. • Help support all Standard Response Protocols incidents and drills. • Participate in the training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to the job. • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Develop, present, and facilitate effective safety-related training. • Supervision/Personnel Management Train, coach and supervise the staff assigned to the security team. Assist the Director with employee evaluations. Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands: Frequent use of standard office equipment; prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions (keyboarding and use of mouse); occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 40 pounds); may be required to moving or lift 160 pounds 20 feet; may work prolonged and irregular hours; occasional statewide travel; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure.
