Salary Range: $65k-$75k
Red Thread PR is seeking a PR Senior Account Executive to join our growing team. We are looking for an independent, self-starter who excels at client service and has a passion for media relations, public affairs, writing and community relations â with a portfolio to prove it. This individual must have experience working closely with communications staff members, developing internal and external communications, and planning and executing integrated paid/owned/earned/shared programs.
The PR Senior Account Executive on this dedicated account team will be responsible for contributing to client relations; supporting the management of PR account team deliverables; supporting PRâs integration with the extended advertising team; strategic PR planning across multiple campaigns and their execution. The Senior Account Executive must be adept at identifying opportunities, solving challenges and mentoring junior staff and above all, must be a media relations expert. It requires collaborative work within both the PR department and integrated agency team at-large, strategic thinking and proven executional experience with paid, owned and earned media tactics.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate an ability to be a strategic account leader, successfully garner top-tier media coverage, execute well-written thought leadership materials and manage an integrated communications platform.
Role Responsibilities:
Client Stewardship
- Manage day-to-day responsibilities of 3-4 accounts
- Provide thoughtful, forward-thinking communications counsel to the client and account team
- Actively communicate with clients daily; proactively address opportunities and challenges
- Participate and lead client calls with team as well as independently and directly with client team
- Provide strategic input, analysis and feedback on client calls in addition to providing updatesÂ
- Supervise junior staffâs quality of work
- Support internal account team to ensure understanding and expectations of client needs
Planning:
- Develop strategic plans that reflect the clientâs goals and objectives and demonstrate modern tactics reflective of the brand
- Develop strategic messaging for internal and external stakeholders
Execution:
- Regularly audit clientsâ existing internal and external communications platforms and content; provide strategic recommendations to optimize content and channels
- Partner with the client via regular calls and email communications to manage fast-moving projects and timelines
- Proactively search for story opportunities and proactively pitch and place stories in national, regional and trade media.
- Monitor media daily and identify topics of interest to the team and clients.
- Conduct media outreach against strategic plan, focusing on high value media targets; build and maintain personal network of meaningful media relationships.
- Brief clients on anticipated topics and themes of interviews and appearances and prepare interview briefing materials and talking points.
- Verify media lists prepared by junior staff. Review and edit media coverage summaries prepared by junior members.
- Create press materials including news releases, toolkits, media advisories, fact sheets, newsletters, byline articles, case studies, speeches that reflect the clientâs brand and key messages.
- Coordinate award submissions and speaking opportunities.
- Deliver executional excellence across all PR tactics, including but not limited to: regional and national media relations, event planning and management, community relations, content development, internal comms, message development, speaking engagements, other outreach.
- Manage budget and timelines.
- Mentor junior staff; ensure that timelines and expectations are met and delivered.
- Manage reporting and merchandising of client work, communicate results to clients regularly.
- Keep abreast of PR industry trends, best practices, new media and evolving technologies and tactics, and educating the account team.
- Stay current and gain proficiency on new software platforms that impact the practice of PR.
- Stay current and add to personal understanding of issues, processes, terms, products, and regulations specific to clientâs industry. Master complex issues that impact client business and industry.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in public relations role â agency or inhouse/client-side PR experience
- An undergraduate degree in communications, public relations, journalism or similar major
- Demonstrated corporate communications expertise
- Demonstrated expertise across:
- Media relations
- Public affairs
- Community relations
- Internal and external communications
- Demonstrated media relations expertise featuring b-to-b and b-to-c clients
- Experience working with insurance, healthcare, and/or building trades
- Experience planning and executing PESO communications plans
- Experience working on an integrated agency team or association-related experience is a plus
- Experience collaborating closely with client team is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and media monitoring tools such as MuckRack, Sprout, Brandwatch, Meltwater
