Edelman has an amazing opportunity for someone looking to propel their career in strategic communications and join the Technology practice in Canada as an Account Executive working on one of our largest Global Technology brands within Edelman.

Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of storytelling, hands-on experience in earned media, message development and event management, familiarity with media and social media analytical tools, and excellent writing skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of today’s news and media landscape and the ability to think through how best to pitch a client’s story to shrinking newsrooms.
  • Understand key client information, including business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors
  • Provide client service administration support; attend meetings, handle scheduling logistics, and draft agendas and recaps 
  • Research, compile and analyze the media landscape as it pertains to technology and business influencers and outlets 
  • Write, edit and proofread materials including press releases, pitch letters, fact sheets and client correspondence 
  • Participate in new business process including research, audits and proposal development 
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of social media tools 
  • Build lists and pitch media 
  • Commit to continuous learning through internal and external training opportunities

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of related experience in earned media or communications experience working on enterprise technology, gaming, gadgets or consumer technology client files. 
  • Excellent knowledge of the media landscape in Canada. 
  • An understanding of the role of communications and PR agencies. Experience in agency considered an advantage. 
  • Media relations experience would be valuable, as well as an understanding of how to compile and showcase media results with proactive analysis of message pull-through, tone of coverage, etc. 
  • Solid grasp of all basic public relations tools, and how they affect the client. Experience using media monitoring tools and conducting coverage analysis is a definite asset.
  • Fundamental understanding of media outreach assignments, with the ability to apply experience and initiative to develop appropriate media strategies.
  • Excellent writing skills across various formats and media 
  • Great references from past employers.
