Senior Accountant

Job Summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) has an immediate opening for a full-time senior accountant who would thrive in a dynamic, collaborative, team-oriented office in Tualatin, Oregon. Reporting directly to the financial controller this career-building role will be responsible for full charge accounting and be able to lead closing processes while providing support in preparing financial statements. Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, or business with an emphasis in accounting, or related field of study.
• A minimum of 5+ years' experience as a general ledger accountant and/or full charge bookkeeper or equivalent progressive experience.
• Thorough knowledge of standard general ledger processes and procedures.
• Demonstrated strength in analysis, communication, and reporting through Excel and financial software.
• Experience with BST 10, or similar ERP software.
• Experience with system conversions, data extraction, data mapping, and reading specifications outlined for data migrations highly preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, and other applications.
• Familiarity with engineering, architecture, construction, or similar professional service industries.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, proactive, and professional.
• Demonstrated strength in customer service.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and understanding of business processes.
• Ability to ensure personal responsibility to complete quality work within budgets, work quickly, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Must be able to work on-site in a clean and safe professional essential business located in Tualatin, Oregon.
• Must be able to work overtime on a regular basis particularly during month-end.

Job Functions & Responsibilities: Working with our multi-faceted accounting and finance team, the following tasks will be assigned:

• Understand, articulate, interpret, and perform full charge accounting functions.
• Assist in the preparation of journal entries, accounts reconciliations.
• Ability to research and resolve reconciliation issues.
• Understand how to scrub and interpret data within large volumes of system-generated accounting transactions.
• Participate in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process by completing assigned journal entries according to the monthly close schedule.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations monthly.
• Ensure accuracy of coding, data entry, and processing of Accounts Payable and Receivable and Assets management.
• Collect, monitor and study accounting data, recommending actions for best practices.
• Contribute to technical documentation, process improvement, and best practices.
• Backfill for Financial Controller as appropriate.
• Effectively collaborate with billing, facilities, IT, marketing, and company owners.
• Focus on client service: respond timely to inquiries and requests while maintaining a positive attitude for internal and external clients.
• Assist with insurance, lien, and collections administrative work as requested.
• Complete projects and special assignments as requested.
