Senior Accountant (State Agency Experience Required) Location:Austin, Texas (On-site or Hybrid, depending on agency needs) Employment Type:Full-time, Contract Schedule:Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Pay Rate:Competitive, based on experience Weekly Pay:Provided through GSG Talent Solutions About the Role We are seeking a highly experiencedSenior Accountantto support financial operations within a Texas state agency. This role requires deep knowledge of state accounting systems, reporting requirements, and compliance processes. The ideal candidate has7–10+ years of professional accounting experienceand a proven track record in government financial management. Key Responsibilities • Perform accounting and reporting functions in alignment with state policies and procedures. • Prepare and reviewAnnual Financial Reports (AFRs)to ensure compliance with state requirements. • Process, reconcile, and maintain transactions in bothUSAS and CAPPSaccounting/purchasing systems. • Assist with financial audits, reconciliations, and reporting. • Provide technical accounting support and guidance to internal teams. • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with fiscal standards. Required Qualifications (Deal Breakers) • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting(required). • Active CPA license(required). • Direct experiencewith bothUSAS and CAPPSpurchasing/accounting systems. • Strong knowledge ofAFR (Annual Financial Report) preparation. • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience. • Previous accounting experiencewithin a Texas state agencystrongly preferred. • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
