Job Description
ODU is looking for an additional Senior Accountant to join our team in San Diego! The Senior Accountant is responsible for general accounting and financial processes within ODU, in partnership with other Senior Accountant and remaining team. This role will support all USA entities.
Responsibilities
• Takes the lead in balance sheet account reconciliation on a monthly and/or quarterly basis, in addition to occasional month-end processing and reporting
• Handles complex accounting journal entries in partnership with Accounting Manager, as well as maintaining and updating accounting records and files
• Serves as back-up for asset invoicing process, as well assisting in the reconciliation of assets, including asset tagging and month-end reporting, working with internal teams as needed
• Responsible for managing the expense reimbursement reconciliations, including proper coding, reviewing submissions and answering employee questions
• Serves as back-up for payroll preparation and reconciliation as needed
• Provides back-up for AR/AP functions when needed
• Assists with handling taxes, such as sales and use tax, ensuring ODU's compliance with state and local laws
• Identifies areas for improvement and takes initiative to drive solutions
• Participates in and/or leads regular audits, supporting the finance and accounting teams
• Serves as deputy in the absence of Accounting Manager
• Responsible for other duties and projects as assigned
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or similar field, or equivalent education and work experience
• 5 years of experience in an accounting/finance role (such as accountant, assistant controller, etc.)
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience working with ERP systems, SAP strongly preferred; ability to navigate additional systems and technology (Microsoft office, etc.)
• Strong critical and analytical thinker, sees big picture and problem solves
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (minimal)
• Fluent in Spanish a plus

The salary range for this role is $80,000 USD - 100,000 USD; however, ODU considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
