We are seeking a detail-oriented and experiencedSenior Financial/Payroll Accountantto join ourFinanceteam. This role will manage and oversee accounting functions in our not-for-profit organization. The Senior Financial/Payroll Accountant plays a key role in maintaining compliance with GAAP and donor restrictions, supporting audits, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate has strong nonprofit accounting experience, including fund accounting, grant tracking, and familiarity with restricted vs. unrestricted funding. This a hybrid position working out of the JFS Seattle Office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Maintain the general ledger and perform monthly closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
· Prepare and review journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account analyses.
· Monitor and report on restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and donations.
· Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
· Manage compliance with grant agreements, including tracking expenditures, preparing reports, and ensuring proper documentation.
· Support the annual audit process, including preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
· Help develop and monitor organizational budgets and forecasts.
· Review and process payroll, benefits, and related journal entries as needed.
· Assist with internal controls, policy development, and process improvement initiatives.
· Work with program managers to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
· Stay current on nonprofit accounting best practices, regulatory changes, and financial reporting standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (CPA or CPA-track a plus).
· 3-5 years of accounting experience, with 2+ years in a nonprofit environment preferred.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit fund accounting, and financial statement preparation.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or Blackbaud Financial Edge).
· Experience with grant and contract compliance.
· Experience with nonprofit grant management and restricted funds.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
· Commitment to the values and goals of social service and community engagement.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
· The pay for this position is $82,909 to $101,333 a year.
