An SAP Architect is a senior-level expert responsible for designing implementing and optimizing SAP solutions that support an organization’s strategic business objectives. This role requires a blend of deep SAP expertise broad enterprise architecture knowledge and strong communication skills to bridge the gap between business and technology.
Core Responsibilities
SAP Solution Architecture: Design scalable secure and high-performing SAP landscapes (e.g. S/4HANA SAP Fiori SAP BTP) tailored to business needs.
Integration Architecture: Develop and oversee integration strategies between SAP and non-SAP systems (e.g. CRM HR finance platforms) ensuring seamless data flow and process continuity.
End-to-End Business Process Understanding: Map and optimize complete business process chains across departments (e.g. Order-to-Cash Procure-to-Pay Hire-to-Retire).
Enterprise Architecture Alignment: Collaborate with other architects to ensure SAP solutions fit within the broader IT architecture and support long-term strategic goals.
Project Leadership: Provide architectural guidance during SAP implementations upgrades and migrations; support project teams with technical decisions and risk mitigation.
Performance & Security: Ensure SAP systems meet performance benchmarks and comply with security and regulatory standards.
Innovation & Roadmapping: Stay current with SAP innovations and contribute to the organization’s SAP roadmap and digital transformation initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
SAP Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with SAP modules (e.g. FI/CO MM SD HCM) SAP Basis and SAP HANA.
Architecture Frameworks: Familiarity with TOGAF SAP Enterprise Architecture Framework or similar methodologies.
Integration Knowledge: Deep understanding of middleware APIs and integration platforms (e.g. SAP PI/PO SAP CPI MuleSoft).
Business Process Insight: Ability to analyze and model end-to-end business processes and translate them into SAP solutions.
Language Skills: Proficiency in Finnish in addition to English is highly valuable for working with local stakeholders and understanding regulatory requirements.
Certifications:
SAP Certified Technology Architect (e.g. SAP S/4HANA)
SAP Certified Application Associate (various modules)
TOGAF or other enterprise architecture certifications
Soft Skills: Excellent communication stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
Preferred Background
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science Information Systems Engineering or related field.
Experience: 8–15 years in SAP environments with several years in architecture or senior consulting roles.
Industry Knowledge: Experience in industries such as manufacturing retail finance or public sector is a plus.
