Senior Copywriter

Athena is looking for a talented copywriter with a passion for storytelling. This person will function as a key member of the editorial staff and will be responsible for writing clear, compelling copy that aligns with campaign goals and client/Athena standards. The spirited, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment Athena operates in requires someone who can not only hit the ground running but thrive while doing it.

Requirements

Specific project responsibilities:

• Has an energetic and optimistic attitude and cares about creating powerful work
• Has a self-motivated, proactive, strategic mentality
• Ideates and executes branded campaigns across different touchpoints (film & video, social media, digital)
• Composes engaging narratives and scripts that tell stories through both voice-over and supers
• Writes compelling, relevant campaign messages considering different platforms and media
• Possesses ability to distill complex concepts into digestible narratives
• Collaborates with Art Directors and Designers to construct ideas to ensure that both the copy and the visuals are in perfect synch, to make the concept as powerful, vivid, and compelling as possible

• Collaborate with creative team members to determine concept, brand, and copy directions
• Ensure copy tone and style are consistent with brand and style guidelines
• Interact with project teams to understand business objectives and audience demographics
• Translate complex and ambiguous concepts into simple and effective messages
• Contribute to business development efforts, supporting proposal and content creation

• Conduct research and author reports based on client needs

The skills and experience you should have:

• 5+ years experience

• Previous agency experience is necessary, ideally supporting a corporate brand

• Experience in Social Purpose and/or Innovation/Tech storytelling and brand work

• Experience working as part of an Art Director / Copywriter team

• Demonstrated attention to detail, personal organization, and interpersonal skills

• Solid organization and time management skills

• Desire to work in a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative environment
