Senior Data Operations Engineer

About The Role

As a Senior Engineer on the Data Operations team you’ll be ensuring the pipelines are working, the platforms are up and healthy, and our systems are operating at their optimal efficiency. You’ll convert proof of concept dashboards to utilize production data while working closely with the Data Architect.  The increased performance of the converted dashboards will make you very popular with our business users!   You’ll also help with client questions and the triage of data systems issues, and you’ll build tools to help keep data operations functioning smoothly.

What You'll Do

• Work deeply in our BI tool to create dashboards needed for all areas of the company by modeling our virtual data layer and researching where other curated data might exist.
• Assess the ongoing performance and usage of BI tools, databases, and data systems
• Facilitate the regular sharing of data within and outside the company
• When needed, create frameworks and models to standardize approaches to one platform.
• Respond to questions in the support channel and propose solutions
• Support and contribute to good data governance development and practices
• Archive data from systems when needed
• Create data audit alerts and respond to them

What We Look For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience
• Strong experience using analytics platforms and BI tools with Looker experience heavily preferred.
• Excellent SQL experience with working through complex queries.
• Stellar ability to troubleshoot issues and attempt to resolve the issue. Coordinate issues with the other teams so a root cause can be identified and created.
• Demonstrated good understanding of how data flows throughout a company and can talk to data governance as each phase.
• Willingness to be be on an on-call rotation

Strong multitasking skills with the ability to balance competing priorities
