Job Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist on VRChat’s Data Team, you will play a key role in driving strategic product decisions and advancing our product roadmap across growth, user experience, creator, and economy verticals. The ideal candidate will have a background in a technical field, will have experience working with large production data sets, and will have some experience delivering data products on a fast-paced team. 

This position will be full-time and remote.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and Marketing teams to scope, design, execute, measure, and improve the impact of product features and campaigns
• Conduct quantitative analysis, deliver insights, and influence product decision making through an understanding of user behavior and our platform ecosystem
• Design and monitor core metrics; perform root cause analysis to explain drivers
• Identify trends and opportunities to drive growth, retention, and monetization initiatives
• Create a healthy ecosystem for content creators, users, and consumers
• Design and analyze experiments to inform and influence product investments
• Acquire new data from various production systems and databases

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in data science, data analytics, product analytics, or quantitative analysis
• Expert background in utilizing SQL/Python to extract, manipulate, and analyze datasets
• Work cross functionally to translate business problems into ones that can be solved and informed by experimentation and data analysis
• Experience with creating data visualizations to communicate metric performance
• Develop models of usage, user behavior & business behavior to make recommendations and influence the product roadmap
• Conduct A/B testing - design, execute, and analyze experiments to understand impact of product feature deployments and changes
• Ability to effectively communicate complex analyses and insights to non-technical audiences

Bonus Points

• Previous experience in data science, data analytics, or product analytics at a social or gaming company
• Have curiosity and apply analytical skills to dive deep into data to find key insights that impact the business
• Experience in stakeholder management, relationship building, and influencing senior audiences
• Adaptability, tendency toward simple, creative solutions, and ability to effectively prioritize work in a demanding and changing environment
