Job Description:

Dimensional is a data-driven company known for bringing the great ideas from academic research to life for investors. Data visualizations - the visual anchor of our brand - reinforce our scientific approach, bringing together data, narrative, motion, and interactivity seamlessly to tell a story and engage viewers. The Senior Data Visualization Designer synthesizes complex financial concepts through the conceptualization, design, and development of infographics and data visualizations across the firm's websites, slides, videos, social media posts, and other communications. The ideal candidate has a passion for visual storytelling, an insatiable curiosity, and a tenacity for discovering the right design solution to bring data to life.

Working closely with subject matter experts to conceptualize ideas, the Senior Data Visualization Designer will apply design thinking and gestalt principles to create clear, engaging graphics and charts that communicate our research findings and educate prospects and clients on key investing principles. We are looking for someone with the ability to work creatively within a corporate brand and a fast-paced environment who knows how to connect creative solutions to business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with stakeholders in our sales and investments teams to understand our content and translate data into clear and compelling charts and graphics for a wide range of mediums and audiences.
• Collaborate closely across an integrated Marketing department and with other members of the Creative team to develop data visualizations and other visual graphic elements to illustrate complex concepts
• Collaborate closely with the Development teams in the deployment of data visualizations on our websites
• Help transform the display of information across our websites from static images to responsive, native exhibits
• Create multimedia, immersive storytelling experiences for our blog using video, motion graphics, and interactive data visualizations to complement the narrative
• Work with flexible site components that can pull in and update a variety of chart types and narrative copy

Competencies Required:

• Ability to translate and simplify complex data through information graphics and charts
• Ability to create digital designs and mockups that closely adhere to web design principles and UI/UX best practices
• Expert proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
• Expertise with low-code and no-code data viz software solutions
• Knowledge of front-end development and content management systems a plus
• Ability to work on both a Mac and a PC for a variety of media
• Ability to work independently and take initiative iterating to solve creative problems
• Ability to work as part of a team and take both broad and narrow direction from Design Directors
• Highly organized and results-oriented
• Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Background in financial services industry or other intangibles a plus

Educational Background and Experience:

Bachelor's in design, communications, journalism, or a related field

Relevant Years of Experience:

Minimum five years of design experience in media, at an agency, or in-house with a focus on data visualization
