The Senior Database Engineer (DBE) will be responsible for overseeing the build, operation and design of numerous SQL Server and MarkLogic databases, AWS Data Platforms, and Snowflake Data Warehouses. Will proactively work closely with internal clients including DevOps engineers, Architects, Application Programmers, Scrum Masters, Test Engineers, and Business Analysts to transform requirements into purpose-built databases. In this position, the successful candidate will work with highly available, high volume transaction processing and analytical environments on Windows and AWS platforms.

What you'll do

• Production Support, Performance tuning and scalability, cost utilization.
• Determine and implement strategies for disaster recovery, high availability, monitoring and alerting.
• Automate database solution deployments. Determine data preparation and migration strategies and execute migrations.
• Authorization, authentication, encryption, auditing.

• All other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring

• BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a DBA
• Experience administering large-enterprise SQL Server 2016+ database environments.
• Strong understanding of relational database architecture concepts.
• Designs and develops databases, data movement, data replication, views, stored procedures, SSIS and SSRS solutions
• SQL "Always On" experience is HIGHLY PREFERRED
• Has administered SQL Servers in a virtual environment
• Hands on experience building and administering SQL Server 2016 and higher
• Prior experience supporting Microsoft .NET applications is plus
• Expertise in Cloud Data platforms such as AWS and Azure
• Knowledge of Cloud Computing platforms, including how cloud native applications interface with databases/data platforms
• Knowledge of system and network monitoring tools
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to interact in a positive, respectful manner and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, multi-task and manage time.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
• Protect and take care of our company and member's data every day by committing to work within our company ethics and policies
• Knowledge of authorization and authentication mechanisms
• Knowledge of data protection options i.e. encryption
• Curiosity for new technologies and solving problems
