Job Description
Dotdash Meredith is looking for a content strategy rockstar with strong SEO analytical and technical skills to join our Growth & Content Strategy team. The Senior Director of SEO will work with our performance marketing editorial team to grow intent-driven audiences across Dotdash Meredith's premium brands including Investopedia, Verywell, Health.com, Better Homes & Gardens, The Spruce, PEOPLE, and more. Your mission will be to achieve business revenue goals by expanding our organic search presence and competing for top rankings in highly competitive search engine result pages across all major finance, health, home, and lifestyle services markets.
As the Senior Director of SEO , you will be part of a specialized team within our Growth organization. You will have access to premier SEO tools and cutting-edge resources. You'll be part of an industry-leading team that delivers actionable insights and makes informed strategic decisions for Dotdash Meredith, and you will collaborate daily with expert product engineers, SEO-savvy editorial teams, and best-in-class designers to build world-class content experiences and drive measurable results. This role reports to the VP of Growth and Content Strategy and will be responsible for growing out a highly operating team of direct reports.
About Your Contributions:
- Creating strategies and innovative approaches to capturing market share within competitive and highest YMYL topic areas
- Partner with brand leadership and product management to create requirements to improve each site based on SEO research
- Collaborate with the SVP of Performance Marketing and VP of Growth and Content Strategy to identify market penetration and entrance opportunities in organic search, building strategic plans to acquire organic market share in those spaces and build a content strategy that supports it
- Guide a team of managers and analysts that work on projects across our matrix (GM, Content, Product, Dev, and Revenue) to implement growth strategy tactics and apply roadmaps
- Craft and execute SEO tests to grow our knowledge of effective tactics
- Work with product management to create SEO requirements that improve site performance and user experience
- Partner with the Data Sciences team to craft algorithms that measure and improve our content and search optimization
- Study search demand to identify content and product growth opportunities
- Monitor daily and weekly dashboards to understand search engine trends and the results of our projects
- Monitor and analyze competitors and potential acquisition targets
- Evangelize SEO and content quality throughout the organization through effective communication, coordination, and education.
- Improving structured data, taxonomy, and supplemental content
- Anticipate future trends/implications and plan for them, articulate credible ideas that create sustainable value
About You:
- 6+ years SEO experience, preferably in-house at a large publisher or from an enterprise-level digital consulting agency
- Passionate about content integrity, transparency, and accessibility
- Strong leadership and communication skills with an ability to tell stories with data and garner excitement and buy-in from audiences of all levels
- Ability to translate strategy into roadmaps that accomplish a long-term vision and drive business results
- Strong understanding of intent-driven audiences and performance marketing
- Hustle and critical thinking skills to drive quality improvements daily
- Ability to effectively partner with GMs, Editorial Directors, Content Operations, Product Leads, and Senior Business Leadership
- Strong editorial skills and keen sense of what content works well online
- Track record of delivering and communicating business results from SEO investments
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit
- Superior project management
- A willingness to embrace change and to adapt strategies and work priorities on the fly
- Ability to parse through data to pull out insights that turn into action
- Exceptional Excel skills (are you the go-to Excel person on your team?)
- Experience analyzing large data sets generated from multiple sources, including Web analytics, site crawls, and large third-party SEO databases
- Strong Web-development fluency; Ability to write precise technical SEO requirements
- Interest or experience in health, home services, and lifestyle content
- Bachelor's or Master's degree preferably in math, science, business, or computer science

Pay Range
Salary: $143,500 - $205,000
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives. In addition, Dotdash Meredith provides to employees (and their eligible family members) a variety of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage, unlimited paid time off (PTO), adoption or surrogate assistance, donation matching, tuition reimbursement, basic life insurance, basic accidental death & dismemberment, supplemental life insurance, supplemental accident insurance, commuter benefits, short term and long term disability, health savings and flexible spending accounts, family care benefits, a generous 401K savings plan with a company match program, 10-12 paid holidays annually, and generous paid parental leave (birthing and non-birthing parents), all of which may vary depending on the specific nature of your employment with Dotdash Meredith and your work location.
