Senior Engineering Manager

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Manager of Software Engineering with extensive experience in software engineering and infrastructure leadership and a proven track record leading complex projects at high-profile technology-driven enterprises. Reporting to the Head of Product & Engineering this individual will help build a high-calibre team and lead key projects to progress our technology evolution through step-wise carefully managed enhancements aligned with clear business outcomes. The focus will be on scaling our infrastructure to meet enterprise-level demands modernising our user interfaces to appeal to customers and a new generation of developers improving REST API architectures to support enterprise customer needs and strategically incorporating AI technologies with a strong emphasis on privacy compliance and emerging agentic platforms.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Strategic Project Leadership:

-   Lead critical initiatives including our cloud scalability and smarter-insights projects to ensure robust incremental improvements delivering tangible business outcomes.

- Team Building & Talent Development:

-   Establish and sustainably scale our European engineering hub.

-   Recruit mentor and develop a top-tier agile and innovative engineering team.

- Technical Roadmap Development:

-   Collaborate closely with the Head of Engineering & Product CTO CEO customers partners developer community and internal teams.

-   Develop and articulate a detailed incremental technical roadmap addressing enterprise scalability UI modernisation API-driven architecture improvements and integration of privacy-compliant AI capabilities.

- Developer Engagement & Policy Evolution:

-   Refine and strategically evolve our policy and engagement approach with the developer community (OSS contributors partners customers) to optimise both adoption and revenue generation.

- Infrastructure and Automation:

-   Provide guidance for the design implementation deployment and maintenance of scalable secure and resilient infrastructure (on-premises and/or cloud).

-   Identify opportunities and automate repetitive tasks system deployments and configuration management.

-   Optimise resource usage costs and performance for cloud and on-prem environments.

- Monitoring and Incident Response:

-   Provide guidance for the development and maintenance of monitoring logging and alerting systems for production environments.

-   Assist with defining on-call processes and SLAs as appropriate for infrastructure and application support within scope of responsibility.

-   Manage incident response processes root cause analysis and remediation steps.

-   Drive operational excellence by identifying and mitigating system bottlenecks and vulnerabilities.

- Security Integration:

-   Embed security tools and practices into CI/CD pipelines to automate vulnerability detection.

-   Lead initiatives to improve security testing automation and monitoring.

-   Evaluate and integrate appropriate DevSecOps tools and technologies to enhance the overall security posture.

This role is designed to progressively expand over a two-year period starting with the establishment of the European engineering hub and with the successful candidate ultimately taking on broader responsibilities within the global software engineering function. This trajectory supports career growth into an influential leadership role enabling the current Head of Product & Engineering to concentrate more exclusively on strategic company initiatives.

Minimum qualifications 🤓

-   Extensive leadership experience in Software Engineering and incremental software architecture transformation.

-   Demonstrated success in significantly reducing operational costs and boosting engineering productivity.

-   Proven track record managing and scaling high-performance engineering teams in globally recognised tech-driven enterprises.

-   Solid experience leveraging open-source software strategically.

-   Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or a related field.
