WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for a Senior FEA Simulation Engineer to drive innovation, development, and support to deliver against AirMI's strategic priorities.

The right person for this role will bring a broad expertise in tooling, material science and engineering, and possess a can-do mentality and a hands-on approach to problem solving. Additional key attributes include strong communication and cross -functional collaboration skills, experience working in a manufacturing setting, and the ability to connect the dots between science and business goals.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
Support and run FEA based modeling.

Lead innovation projects that require new methods for evaluating and optimizing tool designs and new materials.

Drive failure and root cause analysis on downstream tool designs.

Drive innovation and manufacturing support projects by developing customized testing procedures and new analytical methods.

Plan, and conduct experimental data collection, and interpret and analyze data in a relevant manner.

Develop reports to share with internal partners.

Keep up to date on the latest developments in FEA with vendors to identify new instruments and technologies to advance project outcomes and new innovations
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
As part of the Innovation Engineering group, this role reports to the Director of Design Engineering. You will collaborate closely with other Design Engineers, Additive Engineers, Material Engineers, Process Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Innovators. Additionally, you will partner with collaborators across Nike in various organizations involved in Cushioning Innovation, Sustainability, Footwear Materials, Business Development, Legal and IP, etc.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in one of the following: Polymer Science, Materials Science, Engineering or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
  • 5 years of industry experience.
  • Vast FEA based modeling expertise.
  • Experience with root cause failure analysis.
  • Experience with mathematical and computational modeling techniques.
  • Knowledge of advanced FEA skills.
  • Knowledge in technical writing for test plans and reports.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA and PFMEA process.
  • Knowledge of TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) material and chemistry.
  • Knowledge of Additive materials a plus.
  • Ability to use custom software packages for quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Experience communicating technical ideas to a range of audiences.
  • Experience troubleshooting difficult engineering problems with a team from a diverse set of backgrounds.
  • Must have the drive and go-getter mentality that is highly developed in driving innovation engineering.
