Real Simple is seeking a full-time Senior Home Editor to join our team. The primary goal of this role is editing and writing home content for the print and website, covering decor, cleaning, organizing, shopping, gift guides, and plant content. This role is ideal for someone who (1) has relevant writing and editing experience and (2) is very interested in home content and Real Simple 's mission to simplify our readers' lives at home. This position reports to our Home Director.
About Your Contributions:

• Ideate, pitch, and write evergreen stories and timely trend pieces covering all topics related to home, including decor, home tours, cleaning, shopping, gift guides, organizing, and plants.
• Assign and edit freelance home content, ensuring that stories adhere to the brand's style, voice, and editorial best practices.
• Recruit and manage freelance writers. Oversee onboarding and payment for freelancers.
• Collaborate across departments with art, social media, video, sales, and marketing to create and promote multimedia content packages and campaigns.
• Participate in cross-platform video content as needed, including tentpole projects.
• Represent Real Simple at industry events, make media appearances as needed, and occasionally travel for stories, meetings, projects, etc.
• Stay up-to-date on decor, lifestyle, and cleaning trends and translate them for our audience.

75% - Assign & edit content, recruit writers, ideate and write content, and stay up to date with decor and cleaning trends.
15% - Collaborate across departments on content packages
10% - Participate in video content, industry events, and PR appearances as needed
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
BA in journalism, English, communication, or similar fields; or relevant on-the-job experience
Experience:
5-7 years of writing or editing experience; within the home space is a huge plus.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Familiarity with the home industry and related trends.
• Proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented.
• Adept at writing both technical how-to content and compelling trend stories.
• Excellent time management skills, the ability to juggle multiple projects, and a flexible approach to shifting priorities. Able to manage both daily deadlines and long-term projects.
• Knowledge of InCopy, Woodwing, and Google Suite.

Pay Range
Salary: $62,000 - $77,000
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
