The Impact You’ll MakeAs a Senior International Accountant, you will be a key member of our growing accounting team and the subject matter expert over all things international accounting. You will partner closely with our Head of Tax, Finance & Strategy, our International country managers, external auditors, and act as the main point of contact for our international outsourced professional service providers. You will own our end to end international accounting including full-scope GL, statutory reporting and other compliance matters. You will lead efforts on complex and technical accounting matters such as tax strategy and our intercompany processes, international stock based compensation charges, and P&L analysis for our growing international business. You’ll support our overall objective of providing timely and accurate financial results with insights by performing critical tasks needed for the monthly close. You will be responsible for developing processes and procedures to ensure all general ledger activity is maintained in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), while also maintaining local books for statutory financials. You will also be partnering cross-functionally on a number of ad hoc projects to support our growing business. You should be excited to show up every day with a team player mentality and help in whatever capacity is needed, however your core job responsibilities will include the following:Â Â
- Perform monthly close activities including journal entries, trend analysis, monthly account reconciliations, and preparation of flux analysis
- Support our Finance & Strategy team in ad hoc analysis as needed to improve company forecasts
- Ownership of intercompany activity and payable/receivable balances in close coordination with treasury and tax Â
Act as primary point of contact with tax and third party specialists for international filings and statutory financials
- Own Value Added Tax filings and reconciliations
- Record monthly Transfer Pricing entries and work together with the Head of Tax on international tax strategy
- Analyze financial statements for discrepancies, coding errors and other issues that should be researched and resolved or brought to management’s attention
- Assist in the preparation of financial information for income taxes and external audits
- Propose best in class solutions for efficient, scalable and accurate account reconciliations
- Be proactive in identifying process inefficiencies and offer suggestions for improvements
- Nextdoor operates a hybrid work environment with office attendance required on a regular cadence
- 5+ years of increasing responsibility within GL accounting roles
- Experience with a complex entity structure of five-plus international entities required
- Some Big 4 public accounting experience is a plus with minimum 3 years industry experience
- Ability to analyze financial records and interpret for other departments
- Experience with payment service providers (i.e. Stripe) settling into multiple countries/currencies
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment, ideally at a public company
- Proficiency with enterprise accounting software (Workday, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and a proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
- Experience with consolidations and intercompany
- Experience with preparing statutory financial information
- Meticulous attention to detailÂ
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to keep others informed of project progress and escalations
- Self-directed, able to perform responsibilities independently with minimal direction
- Strong desire to be a team player and help in whatever capacity possible

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- CPA is a plus
Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package.
The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $90,000-$155,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.
We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.
Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
