YOUR ROLE

As a manager of the life assumption development team, you will help lead a highly motivated team to recommend assumptions, assess risk, monitor experience, and present to management. Your expertise will be essential to provide direction on complex problems and manage the assumption review cycle. This role will be collaborative with actuarial, governance, finance, reinsurance, risk, IT, leadership, and others.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and continue to build the life assumption development team
  • Support assumption development and monitoring projects
  • Communicate results of recommendations and reviews to non-technical audiences
  • Document methodology and reasoning for assumption changes
  • Review and understand complex models, such as predictive analytics, and communicate important insights
  • Collaborate with other departments, creating consistent and accurate implementations of assumptions
  • Support ad hoc requests for actuarial assistance

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related major
  • Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA)
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience within actuarial industry
  • Knowledge of GAAP, Statutory and Tax financial reporting requirements for term and universal life insurance
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, and collaborating with non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities in an organized manner

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with big data and working with actuarial modelling software such as AXIS, MG-ALFA, Polysystems
  • Experience with BI software such as Spotfire or PowerBI
