Job Description
The Senior Manager of Programs (EHS) will be responsible for overseeing and advancing the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and projects at NBCUniversal within the Universal Studio Group (USG). This role will be at the forefront of shaping the team's initiatives, driving project development, providing EHS leadership during crisis situations, and ensuring the successful execution of programs. This role involves strategic planning, program development, and fostering a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.
Strategic Leadership

  • Responsible for providing strong and effective leadership during crisis situations, including but not limited to pandemics, natural disasters, and other emergency scenarios.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive management plans to ensure the organization's readiness to respond effectively to various crisis scenarios.
  • Lead and guide cross-functional teams through crisis situations, making informed and timely decisions to mitigate risks and ensure the organization's resilience.
  • Provide guidance and support to the EHS team and Production during periods of transition.
  • Lead project teams through the development lifecycle, fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment.
  • Coordinate efforts across various departments to ensure seamless execution.
  • Mediate discussions and negotiate compromises to ensure smooth project execution.


Program Development

  • Design and implement EHS programs that address identified risks and promote a safe working environment.
  • Oversee the development of training programs to educate employees on safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive project and program plans, outlining objectives, timelines, resource requirements, and success criteria.
  • Anticipate future requirements to proactively prepare for potential program needs.


Overseeing Operations and Technologies

  • Lead and enhance automated workflows using Formstack, ensuring seamless integration and optimizing efficiency in EHS processes.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for digitization improvements and implement changes to streamline workflows.
  • Contribute to the oversight and management of the EHS website, ensuring that content is up to date, relevant, and aligns with the organization's digital strategy.
  • Manage 3rd party services, including Formstack and Design Pickle, to ensure optimal utilization and value for EHS initiatives.
  • Take the lead in redesigning EHS content using Design Pickle, ensuring a visually appealing and engaging representation of EHS information.
  • Maintain and manage access to the EHS SharePoint platform.
  • Implement improvements to the SharePoint system for enhanced collaboration and document management within the EHS Department.


Resource Allocation

  • Manage and allocate resources effectively, including personnel, and technology, to support EHS initiatives.
  • Monitor resource utilization and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Propose solutions to optimize resource utilization and enhance overall productivity.


Continuous Improvement

  • Assess existing business processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement.
  • Persist in exploring improved and more efficient methods of accomplishing tasks.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends.
  • Identify and recommend technology solutions that can contribute to process optimization.


Qualifications
Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and/or minimum 5 years television production/production safety experience
  • Minimum of 5 years supporting production environment
  • Minimum of 3 years of people management experience
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience overseeing EHS compliance/audit management
  • Prior work experience understanding, interpreting, and applying applicable EHS regulations, both US and international, to various work environments
  • Proficient in Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Yammer, Stream, and Teams) and other related tools
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex EHS projects from inception to completion, with strong project management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, evaluate risks, and develop practical solutions to complex EHS challenges
  • Must be willing to work in multiple time zones
  • Willingness to travel with short notice and on weekends
  • As this is a critical operations position, candidate must be willing to work flexible hours including late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment
  • Must be available to work (whenever necessary for show production) early mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends


Desired Characteristics

  • Prior experience in media, entertainment, or film preferred
  • Prior experience with corporate EHS management systems a plus
  • Exhibits knowledge and understanding of local, state, US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules, and various international country regulations and procedures
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal and executive presentation skills; communicates effectively in high-pressure situations with employees of all levels
  • Proven ability to build and sustain excellent relationships, through clear and effective communication, with internal stakeholders as well as key vendors and other relevant industry contacts
  • Calm under pressure with an ability to quickly identify problems and work collaboratively to achieve results
  • Must be able to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight deadlines in an organized fashion in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record of success leading teams remotely. Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience building and motivating high-performing teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in leading and executing complex EHS projects, from planning and risk assessment to implementation and evaluation
