OnsiteThe Electric Systems Power Generation Engineering team is looking for an engineering manager to lead a multi-disciplined technical team in the progression of new technologies and product demonstrators (Technology Maturation, or Tech Mat) for commercial and military aircraft engine mounted primary and auxiliary generators. The preferred candidate must be a superb communicator with strong analytical problem-solving skills, product support experience, and an understanding of project management.What You Will Do
- Lead and manage the generator technology development engineering team, providing guidance and mentorship to the team members as they invent, develop, and demonstrate new concepts and capabilities to support the power generation product line. These projects consist of both externally funded and IR&D projects.

- Accountable for meeting technology maturation goals, typically consisting of Technology Readiness Level milestones, within allocated costs and schedule
- Responsible for development of Technology Development Plans (TDP) and capturing lessons learned and standard work that are developed during TDP progression.
- Coordinate Tech Mat staffing, budgets, and communication of progress within Electric Power Systems and with the Power & Controls Tech Mat team. Work to identify source of both internal and external funding to allow the department to progress key Tech Mat projects.
- Lead team(s) to develop product demonstrators for either Tech Mat progression objectives or larger "One RTX" initiatives to support business pursuit opportunities and key customer engagements.
- Work closely with generator engineering staff to identify and develop intellectual property disclosures to support department annual IP disclosure goals and identify opportunities for technology discriminators for further development.
- Develop and execute a technology roadmap, maintaining awareness of technology and Collins' competitive positions
- Develop innovation strategies via collaboration with internal customers, partner organizations within the company, and external agencies
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Experience leading technical teams with a passion for challenging and developing people.
- Design and testing experience with electric power products, such as electrical generators, motors, or hybrid drivetrain systems, in aerospace or a closely related industry.
- Experience supporting product development and testing.
- Highly self-motivated, enthusiastic team leader.
- Knowledge of current aerospace industry trends.
- Strong customer focus, interpersonal & networking skills.
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal/written communication to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in identifying, communicating and mitigating risks.
- A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, or an MBA combined with an undergraduate engineering degree.
- Experience in project engineering for complex mechanical or electrical products.
- Experience with various electrical machine topologies.
- Design and testing experience with mechanical products in aerospace or a closely related industry.
- Experience developing and progressing TRL projects
- Experience with manufacturing methods (castings, additive manufacturing, special processes, etc.) and designing for different manufacturing methods
