Position Summary

Location - Atlanta, GA

We are looking for an experienced talent who is a self-motivated, highly experienced Senior MySQL Database Administrator. This position will be responsible for tasks such as development of best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying databases, day-to-day operational activities, including break/fix, capacity management, backup and recovery, database replication setup/management and ongoing database change reviews.

Responsibilities

• Provision MySQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations

• Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases

• Prepare documentations and specifications

• Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.

• Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary

• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

• Project management and customer interaction

• Experience with backup and recovery strategies

• Experience in database software management (patch and version management)

• Good scripting ability and good working knowledge of Shell Scripts, Perl or Python.

• 24/7 Support of Production DB’s

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education experience
• 10+ years working with MySQL technology. Certified MySQL DBA is a plus
• Strong proficiency in MySQL database management and optimization
• Experience using Percona is a plus but not required
• Managing large scale MySQL databases
• Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
• Experience with replication configuration in MySQL
• Hands on experience with designing and implementing database replication strategies
• Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL
• Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
• Knowledge of MySQL features, such as its event scheduler
• Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
• Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
• Experience administering Debian or Ubuntu Linux
• Able to work under pressure and multi-task
• Pro-active, dedicated, committed and responsible

It would also be advantageous if you had any of the following experience:

• Knowledge or experience with
  • MariaDB
  • SQL Server
  • Redis
  • RIAK
  • Zabbix
• Scripting experience - We use primarily bash with some Perl and Python, however experience with other scripting languages would be suitable.
• Industry experience - either in iLottery or iGaming

Education/Years of Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences with 10+ years’ experience with MySQL•Master’s degree with 8+ years experience
