Senior MySQL DBA/DBRE

ModMed is hiring a driven Senior MySQL DBA, DBRE to join our positive, passionate, and high-performing Cloud Engineering Team. This role is focused on managing databases for Modernizing Medicine’s growth, performance, reliability and scale requirements. The management of databases includes developing and maintaining the organization’s information databases, setting up the database host, and ensuring secure storage of company and customer information. Additionally, the duties may include reviewing SQL coding, identifying poor performing queries, enhancing indexes, and migration of data. The Role:

• Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet performance and scalability requirements.
• Lead database architecture, database performance, and related systems administration tasks while collaborating with software architects and engineers.
• Support Modernizing Medicine’s ongoing development of our web application, Ipad application with an emphasis on database design, and SQL.
• Design, develop, and support database needs by working with Business Systems Analysts.
• Work with the Cloud Services team to provide management of production systems in collaboration with Client Services and Product Development.
• Set up monitoring tools to track database performance metrics and establish alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues.
• Provide support for a 24/7/365 production environment.
• Manage database backups, logging, and related SysAdmin tasks.
• Perform database tuning for optimal performance.
• Maintain documentation of systems, policies, and procedures.
• Stay up to date with industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies in the database and data management space.
• Share knowledge and best practices with team members and other stakeholders.
• Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related products (MYSQL, Aurora, ElasticSearch, AWS-RDS, etc.).

Skills & Requirements:

• 6+ years of progressive MySQL administration experience
• Demonstrated experience and skills with DB Reliability Engineering, experience with SRE and or Cloud Ops preferred
• Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
• Experience with replication configuration in MySQL
• In-depth understanding of the database engine and strong performance tuning skills.
• Strong experience working with Unix/Linux and Shell Scripting
• Exposure to Aurora, RDS, Git, Kubernetes, Java, and supporting software development teams
• Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, preferred
