Senior Principal Database Engineer

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of all database systems, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or other platforms used within the organization.
• Take ownership of regular database maintenance tasks, such as backups, recovery, and performance tuning, ensuring optimal database health and uptime.
• Proactively monitor and manage database performance, swiftly identifying and resolving potential issues before they impact application performance or user experience.
• Lead efforts to maintain database security, data integrity, and compliance with industry best practices and relevant regulations.
• Provide technical leadership and collaborate closely with application development teams throughout the application lifecycle, ensuring efficient and reliable support.
• Take the lead in troubleshooting and resolving complex application-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, data inconsistencies, and system errors.
• Act as the primary escalation point for critical incidents, leveraging your expertise to minimize downtime and disruption to business operations.
• Lead efforts to analyze and optimize database and application performance, improving system response times and user experience.
• Design and lead the implementation of database and application monitoring solutions to proactively detect and address performance degradation.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in database administration, providing insights and thought leadership to the team and the organization.
• Lead by example, setting high standards for technical excellence, problem-solving, and proactive approaches to challenges.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and share your knowledge to influence technology adoption and innovation.
• Collaborate with architects and technical leads to design and implement scalable, high-performance database solutions.
• Contribute your technical leadership expertise to the development of data and application architecture strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and future growth requirements.
• Lead the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation related to database and application configurations, processes, and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership in training and guiding junior members of the DBA/Application Support team, nurturing their growth and development.

Operational Support, Automation, Oracle and SQL Databases, Troubleshooting
You should definitely have:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
• A minimum of seven years of recent experience in the role of an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA).
• Extensive experience as an Oracle Database Administrator with a proven track record of technical leadership in managing other database platforms, such as Microsoft SQL Server.
• An exceptional mastery of Oracle's Golden Gate software.
• An advanced level of proficiency in setting up and configuring OEM.
• An expert-level understanding of Oracle Multitenancy technology.
• A high level of competence in PL/SQL.
• Proficient in Linux and skilled in shell scripting.
• Brings hands-on experience with MS SQL replication to the table.
• Exceptional understanding of database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing techniques, demonstrating technical leadership in solving performance challenges.
• Solid grasp of database security best practices and the ability to implement security measures effectively.
• Passion for staying at the forefront of technology and continuously updating knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work with little guidance.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, showcasing technical leadership capabilities in working with cross-functional teams.
• Strong leadership abilities, with a proven capacity to mentor and guide junior team members effectively.

• Knowledge of Oracle Rest Data Services and Application Express.
