We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to join our growing

Product team at OakNorth Bank and help us revolutionise SME lending.

Product Manager will be to define, design and deliver the best lending

experience for SMEs. 

Our lending Product team is responsible for the entire end-to-end lending process – from origination, through credit decisioning, legal, drawdown and in-life performance. OakNorth does ‘banking’ a little differently – and we’re looking for people who can think differently to deliver the right solutions. 

The role will work heavily with our Credit Risk and Portfolio Monitoring teams and you’ll need to be excellent at working with others across the business to maximise their knowledge in building digital solutions that can meet all the complexities of the loans we offer. 

You will have genuine ownership – from strategy to delivery. This is a role for a Senior Product Manager who wants to get things moving quickly; who can set a digital product strategy and align the business around this, who can work with data-scientists, designers and with a dedicated full-stack engineering team to build and optimise something they are truly proud of. 

We are looking for someone who wants to:

• Contribute to product strategy and manage the product roadmap – own, manage, and make recommendations for product roadmap that balances the needs of our external and internal customers 
• Become a subject matter expert – be the go-to person in your product area for customers, Product, and internal stakeholders.
• Understand the broader market, competitor landscape, and emerging trends to identify gaps and opportunities 
• Deliver business outcomes - establish Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for your product area that drive tangible business outcomes and track your team's progress against them 
• Build relationships and collaborate – within the immediate team, between functions, and across the whole organisation 
• Solve complex problems – be able to clearly define the problem from various aspects (customer, technology, and internal business users) and define deliverables to solve the problem 
• Perform customer discovery - gather customer insights through interviews, panels, and calls to improve products continuously.
• Prioritise and deploy these activities to understand customer wants, needs, and pain points 

We would love you to

• Have experience shipping complex yet customer-centric analytical products in a fast-growing company
• Have experience working on risk analytics (ideally in the financial sector) 
• Be data-driven, passionate about metrics, and intellectually honest about how your product is performing
• Balance innovative thinking with the ability to earn trust across the broader organisation by delivering business outcomes
• Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an ability to distil a complex topic in a simple, easy-to- understand recommendation for stakeholders in distinct functions to you
• Demonstrate strong presentation and storytelling skills with an ability to take people on a journey from the very beginning
• Have significant independence/ownership for your product area

OakNorth Bank was built on the foundations of frustrations with old-school banking. In 2005, when our founders tried to get capital for their data analytics company, the computer said ‘no’. Unfortunately, all major banks in the UK were using the same computer – and it was broken.
