Position Overview:

We seek a skilled and experienced Quality Engineer preferably with a background in composites or mechanical engineering to lead our quality department in China. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in engineering principles and a proven track record in quality control management. This role is crucial for maintaining high standards of product quality, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. 

This position will report directly to the Director of Asia Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 60% to 70% travel to various factories in several locations within China to monitor quality, enforce company specifications, and improve processes. 
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and work with US engineering and production teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Provide leadership and support for troubleshooting efforts in the Fabrication and Assembly Departments, implementing root-cause solutions.
  • Inspection and Testing: Conduct and oversee inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications.
  • Utilize Kanban daily, eliminating the need for a master schedule and increasing output and capacity.
  • Implement and manage quality auditing systems, including product, part, and process audits.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze quality data, identify trends, and generate reports on quality performance, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements, and other relevant quality management systems.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive quality control documentation, including inspection records, test reports, and compliance certifications.
  • Improve delivery performance and meet or exceed production goals through low-cost solutions
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and production teams to troubleshoot quality issues, develop new products, and optimize manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Composites Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance roles within the composites or mechanical engineering industries.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of composite materials, mechanical components, and quality control methodologies.
  • Certification: Professional certifications such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or equivalent are preferred.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sector Experience: Experience in aerospace, automotive, or other high-tech industries.
  • Advanced Certifications: Advanced certifications in quality management or engineering.
  • Experience in the retail or sports industry
