The Impact You’ll Make

As a Senior Revenue Accountant, you will have a wide scope and will be a core member of our revenue team. Revenue is an evolving and growing area of the business, and you will help put the foundation in place for the next stage of growth as a public company. Our ideal candidate is a dynamic, self-starter with ad experience, great communication skills and prior experience establishing best practices in a changing environment. This person will need to be focused on continuous improvement and demonstrate a high attention to detail. This role will be an individual contributor reporting directly to the Revenue Accounting Manager, with a dotted line to the Senior Manager of Accounts Receivable. You should be excited to show up every day with a team player mentality and help in whatever capacity is needed, however your core job responsibilities will include the following:

  • Be responsible for the end to end quarterly commission calculations, interacting with AR/Billing, Account Management and Sales leadership and owning Xactly system administration in conjunction with Sales Ops and Business Systems.
  • Ownership over the revenue report utilized in the commission calculation that incorporates commissionable revenue from multiple revenue streams.
  • Work closely with the Deal Desk Lead to maintain the underlying data and reporting utilized by the billing team for monthly invoicing. This includes creation of any new billing files to support additional revenue streams or partnerships.
  • Perform monthly close activities including the commission accrual and other supporting revenue related reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Define and document key revenue processes, providing narratives or flow charts for revenue accounting, deal desk, internal audit, external auditors, etc.
  • Constantly look to automate processes to remove the need for manual work
  • Support our Finance & Strategy team in ad hoc analysis as needed to improve company forecasts and ensure proper classification of monthly revenue streams
  • Assist in the preparation of revenue-related information for external audits and internal controls testing
  • Work closely with cross-functional go to market teams including Business Systems, CRM, Deal Desk, AR/Billing,  Revenue Accounting, and Sales Operations
  • Nextdoor operates a hybrid work environment with office attendance required on a regular cadence
  • Participate in in-person Nextdoor events, trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and other team building exercises
  • Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to the KIND culture that Nextdoor values
What You’ll Bring To The Team
  • 4+ years of increasing responsibility within revenue accounting or revenue operations, preferably in some part at a public company
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Experience reviewing contracts
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, ideally at a public company with SOX
  • Proficiency with enterprise accounting software (Workday, NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and a proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce)
