Zions Bancorporation is accepting applications for the Sr. Risk Manager to join the Market & Liquidity team. Position will be located downtown and offer a hybrid work schedule.
Description
The Market, Liquidity, Wealth Risk & Compliance team is an integral part of the Zions Bancorporation Enterprise Risk Management division. With oversight responsibility for two of the level one risks the Bank manages, the Senior Risk Manager - Market & Liquidity (SRM) works closely with key executives to assess, monitor and manage risks driven by interest rate shifts, market volatility, liquidity changes, and emerging conditions. The SRM also manages risks associated with evolving business activities (e.g., capital markets and digital assets) and creates and implements risk management and compliance frameworks and governance structures. A successful SRM will drive technical second line challenges of Asset-Liability Management, Treasury, and risk-driving business unit activities using deep analytical skills and professional demeanor.
The position will report to the Director of Market, Liquidity, Wealth Risk & Compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Actively coordinate with the Bank's Chief Financial Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Credit Officer, Corporate Treasurer, Director of Model Risk Management, and Director of Market, Liquidity Wealth Risk & Compliance to ensure effective second-line oversight of interest rate, market and liquidity risks and Bank and Bank-Dealer funding needs.
- Provide ongoing reviews and assessments of counterparty risks associated with the Capital Markets division activities including the Bank broker/dealer investment banking underwriting activities, customer swaps, risk participations, and syndicate lending.
- Develop, implement, and monitor early warning indicators to confirm the Bank remains within established risk parameters with respect to interest rate, market, and liquidity risks.
- Coordinate with Model Risk Management on second line of defense challenger models for ALM, Capital Markets, and other relevant business units.
- Oversee and direct execution of risk-based reviews to validate conformance with banking regulations and internal compliance programs.
- Function as the primary liaison with the Capital Markets regulatory examiners.
- Oversee the execution of independent second line of defense oversight of interest rate, market, and liquidity risks.
- Provide regular verbal and written reports to the Board of Directors, Executive Risk Committees, and Asset Liability Committees.
- Oversee the execution of the Volcker Rule-related compliance program.
- Coordinate with Enterprise Risk Management groups to facilitate program implementation by business lines.
Qualifications:
- Master's or comparable degree in business, finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years' experience in some combination of the following functions:
- Bank balance sheet and portfolio management.
- Asset-liability management.
- Interest rate and market risk management and oversight.
- Liquidity risk management and oversight.
- Financial services industry, risk management, or regulatory compliance roles.
- Management of regulatory examinations and internal audits.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, execute, and manage risk and compliance programs.
- Working knowledge of and experience assessing credit and counterparty risks.
- Strong communication capability with experience in both verbal and visual presentations made to executives.
- Fundamental understanding of macroeconomic factors and associated impacts on financial institutions.
- Expertise in developing and implementing governance oversight systems, controls, and corporate policies.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and projects, simultaneously execute multiple priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to articulate complex concepts.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills and ability to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity.
- Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
- Occasional travel required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with and working knowledge of interest rate swaps and derivatives.
- Strong history of collaboration with business units including correspondent banking, foreign exchange, capital markets, and Corporate Treasury.
- Working knowledge of the Dodd-Frank Volcker Rule and compliance requirements.
- Financial modeling and model development and validation experience.
- Current or previously held FINRA securities licenses (i.e., Series 4, 7, 24, 65, 66, 79).
